In an example, a method include receiving a data model of an object to be generated in additive manufacturing at a processor, the data model comprising object property data. A segmentation of a virtual build volume comprising at least a portion of the object into a plurality of nested segments may be derived. A first segment may be associated with first object generation parameters and a second segment may be associated with second, different, object generation parameters. A number of nested segments to be derived may be determined based on at least one of a geometry of the object and an intended object property.

Example color resources are generated. A first luminosity amount of a greyscale color in a greyscale color space is determined. The greyscale color corresponds with a transformation of a source color in a first color space converted to the greyscale color. The source color corresponding with a depletion color in a second color space, and the depletion color has a second luminosity amount. A target color in a color resource is generated via adjusting a black channel amount in the depletion color to match the second luminosity amount with the first luminosity amount. The target color to correspond with the source color in the color resource.

Color resources

A system for presenting a soft-proof of a three-dimensional (3D) printed part may include a processor, and a memory device communicatively coupled to the processor. The system may also include a communication link to support communication with a 3D printing device, and computer usable program code to, when executed by the processor, retrieve data from the 3D printing device defining at least one capability of the 3D printing device that affects an appearance of a part when printed. The system may also include an application programming interface (API) to provide data defining generation of a soft-proof of the part based on the at least one capability of the 3D printing device, the soft-proof of the part depicting characteristics of the part as the part appears as printed.

In an example, a method includes receiving object model data describing at least a portion of an object to be generated by additive manufacturing. Object generation instructions for generating the object in its entirety may be derived based on the object model data. Where it is determined that the object model data comprises a data deficiency for deriving the object generation instructions, at least one attribute for the object may be inferred and object generation instructions may be derived based on the object model data and the inferred attribute.

A system determines an object part density relative to a build region in a layer of build material used in an additive manufacturing machine, the object part density based on a relative portion of the build region where an energy absorbing agent is applied. The system controls a thermal characteristic of the build region in the layer of build material based on the determined object part density.

In some examples, with respect to three-dimensional printer color management, three-dimensional printer native space coordinates of a three-dimensional printer may be mapped to three-dimensional printer printing agent space coordinates of the three-dimensional printer. The three-dimensional printer printing agent space coordinates may be mapped to color space coordinates. The color space coordinates may be mapped to two-dimensional printer printing agent space coordinates of a two-dimensional printer. The two-dimensional printer printing agent space coordinates may be mapped to two-dimensional printer native space coordinates of the two-dimensional printer. A color management protocol of the two-dimensional printer may be utilized, based on the mapping of the three-dimensional printer native space coordinates to the two-dimensional printer native space coordinates, for the three-dimensional printer to print a three-dimensional object.

An image file is prepared for printing. The image file is received. The image file includes a cell having pixels. A pixel of the pixels of the cell corresponds with a command to apply a print substance to a medium. For the pixel, the command to apply the print substance is selectively replaced with a command to not apply the print substance.

Example printing devices and methods of the printing devices are disclosed. Target data is received responsive to imaging the source item. The source item includes a mark indicative of rendering information. The target data is used to detect the rendering information. The target object is output based on the target data and the rendering information.

Target color table generated from source color tables. A first significance factor is assigned to a first node in a first source color table. The first node in the first source color table corresponds with a color input in a first color space and provides a first print substance formulation in a second color space. A second significance factor is assigned to a second node in a second source color table. The second node in the second source color table corresponds with the color input in the first color space and provides a second print substance formulation in the second color space. A third node in target color table is generated from the first and second nodes based on the first and second significance factors. The third node corresponds with the color input in the first color space and provides a third print substance formulation in the second color space.

In an example a method includes identifying, by a processor, in a data model of at least a portion of a three-dimensional object, an object property associated with a location in the three-dimensional object. A data model of a virtual build volume comprising at least a portion of the three-dimensional object may be generated in which an association with an object property is dispersed beyond the location.

In an example, a method includes receiving, at a processor, a data model of an object to be generated in additive manufacturing. A virtual build volume comprising a representation of at least a portion of the object may be segmented into a plurality of nested segments comprising a core segment and a peripheral segment. Segmenting the virtual build volume may comprise determining a dimension of the peripheral segment based on at least one of a geometry of the object and an intended object property.

In one example, a control process for an additive manufacturing machine includes displacing a platform, measuring the actual displacement of the platform, determining that the actual displacement varies from a nominal displacement, and determining an amount of an agent to be applied to build material layered on the displaced platform based on the determined variation.

In an example, a method includes forming a layer of build material, processing a first portion of the build material by distributing a print agent using a first distribution pattern, the first distribution pattern having a first print agent dispersion characteristic and processing a second portion of the build material by distributing a print agent using a second distribution pattern, the second distribution pattern having a second print agent dispersion characteristic. The method may further include heating the build material by exposing the layer of build material to radiation so as to cause fusing of the first and second portion.

Determining distribution patterns for object portions

Examples of a user interface (UI) for depletion level selection are described herein. In some examples, a control element is displayed in a UI to select a color depletion level for a color printing substance of a printing device. A predicted cost-per-page to print is displayed in the UI based on based on a selected color depletion level. A color map for the printing device is determined based on the selected color depletion level and a separate black depletion level.

An example color resource is generated. A source color from a first color space is converted to a corresponding greyscale color in a greyscale color space. The greyscale color includes a first luminosity amount. A black channel amount is adjusted to a depletion color from a second color space to form a target color in the second color space. The depletion color corresponds with a transformation of the source color into the second color space. The depletion color includes a second luminosity amount, and adjusting the black channel includes matching the second luminosity amount in the target color with the first luminosity amount.
