The invention provides compositions, each comprising an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, which has a reduced level of a low density, low molecular weight oligomeric fraction, as indicated by an HCC value, as described herein, and reduced levels of inorganic content or lower Tm. The invention also provides processes for forming such interpolymers.

A composition comprising the following: A) coated polymer particles, and wherein the polymer particles are formed from a first composition comprising an ethylene-based polymer that comprises the following properties: a density from 0.854 to 0.860 g/cc, and a melt index (I2) from 4.0 to 15.0 g/10 min; and wherein the polymer particles comprise a coating on at least a portion of the total surface of the polymer particles, and wherein the coating is formed from a powder composition comprising at least one inorganic powder, and at least one organic powder selected from a metal stearate and/or a polymer powder, and wherein the weight ratio of the total amount of the inorganic powder to the total amount of the organic powder is from 3.0 to 50.0; B) optionally, a propylene-based polymer.

Compositions containing coated polymer particles and TPO compositions formed from the same

Crosslinkable polymeric compositions comprising (a) 10 to 99 weight percent of an ethylene-based interpolymer having the following properties: (i) a density of 0.93 g/cmor less, (ii) a high-shear viscosity (V100) at 190&#xb0; C. and 10% strain of 1,200 Pa-s or less, and (iii) a shear thinning ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190&#xb0; C. and 10% strain of at least 8; and (b) 0 to less than 10 weight percent of a filler, where the ethylene-based interpolymer is not prepared in a high-pressure reactor. Such crosslinkable polymeric compositions may be employed as insulation layers in flexible power cables.

Flexible crosslinked cable insulation and methods for making flexible crosslinked cable insulation

Crosslinkable polymeric compositions comprising: (a) a polymer blend comprising: (1) 10 to 94 weight percent, based on the total weight of the crosslinkable polymeric composition, of an ethylene-based interpolymer having the following properties: (i) a density of 0.93 g/cmor less, (ii) a melt index (I) at 190&#xb0; C. of greater than 0.2 g/10 minutes, and (iii) a shear thinning ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190&#xb0; C. and 10% strain of less than 8; and (2) 5 to 90 weight percent, based on the total weight of the crosslinkable polymeric composition, of a high-pressure polyethylene; and (b) 0 to less than 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of the crosslinkable polymeric composition, of a filler, where the ethylene-based interpolymer of component (a) is not prepared in a high-pressure reactor or process. Additionally, the polymer blend has the following properties: (i) a shear thinning ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190&#xb0; C. and 10% strain of at least 5, (ii) a high-shear viscosity (V100) at 190 C and 10% strain of less than 1,300 Pa&#xb7;s, (iii) a melt strength of at least 4 centiNewtons at 190&#xb0; C., and (iv) a flexural modulus, 2% secant, of less than 25,000 psi. Such crosslinkable polymeric compositions may be employed as insulation layers in flexible power cables.

Crosslinkable polymeric compositions for flexible crosslinked cable insulation and methods for making flexible crosslinked cable insulation

Crosslinkable polymeric compositions comprising (a) 10 to 89 weight percent of an ethylene-based interpolymer having the following properties: (i) a density of 0.93 g/cm3 or less, (ii) a high-shear viscosity (V100) at 190 C and 10% strain of 1,200 Pa&#xb7;s or less, (iii) a shear thinning ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190 C and 10% strain of at least 8, and (iv) a melt index (I) greater than 1 g/10 minutes; and (b) 10 to less than 90 weight percent of a filler, where the ethylene-based interpolymer is not prepared in a high-pressure reactor. A process to produce an ionomer comprising reacting alkyl-cis-cyclooctene and cis-cyclooctene in a mole ratio from 1:0 to 0:1, in the presence of a difunctional chain transfer agent under ring opening metathesis polymerization conditions to form an unsaturated polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer; hydrogenating the unsaturated polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer to produce a hydrogenated polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer; reacting the hydrogenated polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer with at least one compound according to the formula aM+b(R), wherein M is a metal, x is a charge of M, R is an alkyl, aryl, oxide, or fatty acid, y is a charge of R, a and b are integers of at least 1, and ax+by=0, to form an ionomer is provided. Further provided are ionomers produced thereby.

Process to produce polyolefin ionomers and ionomers produced thereby

A composition includes (A) 30-95 wt % of a random or homogeneous propylene-based interpolymer having: (i) a comonomer content of at least one of Cand C&#x3b1;-olefins of 7 wt % to 49 wt % based on the total weight of the propylene-based interpolymer, (ii) a density of 0.90 g/cc or less, and (iii) an MFR of 1 g/10 min or greater (230&#xb0; C./2.16 kg); and (B) 5-70 wt % of a block composite nucleator comprising: (1) a first polymer that includes polypropylene; (2) a second polymer that includes an alpha-olefin based polymer, the alpha-olefin being selected from at least one of a Cand C&#x3b1;-olefins, and (3) a block copolymer having a first segment and a second segment, the first segment of the block copolymer having the same composition as the first polymer in the block composite nucleator and the second segment of the block copolymer having the same composition as the second polymer of the block composite nucleator.

A process to produce a polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer comprising reacting alkyl-cis-cyclooctene and optionally cis-cyclooctene, in the presence of a difunctional chain transfer agent under ring opening metathesis polymerization conditions to form an unsaturated polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer is provided. Further provided are unsaturated and hydrogenated reactive pre-polymers, crosslinked elastomers and high molecular weight elastomers.

Process to produce a polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymer, polyolefin reactive telechelic pre-polymers and crosslinked elastomers and high molecular weight elastomers

Disclosed in more detail in this application are ethylene interpolymer films having one or more layers, comprising surface layer comprising: (A) a silane-containing ethylene interpolymer comprising (1) an ethylene interpolymer having a density of less than 0.905 g/cm3, and (2) at least 0.1 percent by weight alkoxysilane; characterized by: (3) having a volume resistivity of greater than 5&#xd7;1015 ohm-cm as measured at 60 C. In one embodiment, such ethylene interpolymer has a residual boron content of less than 10 ppm and residual aluminum content of less than 100 ppm. Also disclosed are laminated electronic device modules comprising: A. at least one electronic device, and B. one of the ethylene interpolymer films as described above in intimate contact with at least one surface of the electronic device. Such laminated electronic device modules according to the invention have been shown to suffer reduced potential induced degradation ('PID').

Silane-containing ethylene interpolymer formulation including films and electronic device module comprising same

A thermoplastic vulcanizate composition comprising from 5 wt % to 95 wt %, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic vulcanizate composition, of a first component comprising a first propylene-based polymer selected from the group consisting of (i) propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymers comprising from 1 to 20 wt % &#x3b1;-olefin and characterized by a g' ratio of less than 1, measured at interpolymer number average molecular weight (Mn), an MFR (2.16 kg @ 230&#xb0; C.) greater than or equal to 0.01, a density greater than or equal to 0.850 g/cc, and a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, less than or equal to 3.5, and (ii) combinations thereof; and from 5 wt % to 95 wt %, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic vulcanizate composition, of a second component selected from the group consisting of curable or vulcanizable rubbers, having a density from 0.85 to 0.88 g/cc, Ifrom 0.001 to 5 g/10 min, and a Mooney viscosity from 5 to 400, and combinations thereof; wherein at least one of the rubbers is vulcanizable; wherein the thermoplastic vulcanizate composition has a tensile strength at break of greater than or equal to 8 MPa and tear strength at 23&#xb0; C. of at least 190 lb-f/in. is provided. Methods of making the composition and articles made from the composition are also provided.

Thermoplastic vulcanizate composition, method of producing the same, and articles made therefrom

The foaming window for making a foam useful in the manufacture of artificial leather is expanded through the use of a foamable composition comprising (A) a propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, (B) a molecular melt (MM) comprising 4,4'-oxydibenzenesulfonylazide (DPO-BSA) and an antioxidant, and (C) a blowing agent. The foaming window can be expanded such that foaming can occur at 220&#xb0; C. for 20 to 200 or more seconds.

Propylene-alpha-olefin copolymer compositions with improved foaming window

A composition of matter particularly well suited for use as a peelable seal layer is described. The composition comprises from about 50 to about 85 percent by weight of a first polymer and from 15 to 50 percent of a second polymer. The first polymer is a propylene based polymer characterized by having a melting point of at least 125&#xb0; C. together with a Comonomer Composition Distribution Breadth ('CCDB') less than 2. The second polymer is characterized by having an interfacial adhesion with the first polymer of less than 1 lb/inch.
