A light sensor is disclosed that includes a photosensor; a memory; a communication interface; and a controller coupled with the photo sensor, the communication interface, and the memory. The controller may be configured to perform a number of operations. For example, the controller may be configured to sample from the photosensor a light intensity of light within a first spectral range at a non-task location within an architectural space; and determine a change in the first spectral range output of a light source to produce a desired amount of light within the first spectral range at a task location based on the sensed light intensity of the color channel at the non-task location. In some embodiments, the task location and the non-task locations are different locations within the architectural space. The controller may also be configured to transmit the change in the color channel output to a light source.

Task to wall color control

A mechanism for end-to-end link quality indication, including a wireless router, coupled to other wireless routers over a multi-hop mesh network, responsive to a first message received from an origination device, configured to forward the first message to a next one of the other wireless routers in route to a destination device. The wireless router has received signal strength indication (RSSI) logic, that adds first RSSI information to a first field of the first message, and that adds second RSSI information to a second field of an acknowledgement message prior to transmitting the acknowledgement message to the origination device. The first and second RSSI information, along with intermediate RSSI information added by one or more of the other wireless routers along a path from the origination device to the destination device, is aggregated into a single term representative of total round-trip quality for the first message and the acknowledgment message.

Apparatus and method for end-to-end link quality indication

A mesh network topology assessment mechanism is provided including a plurality of first wireless routers, coupled together over a multi-hop mesh network, and a second wireless router. The second wireless router is coupled to the first wireless routers and, responsive to a message having a link assessment mode, introduces a unique delay into forwarding of the message to a next one of the plurality of first wireless routers in route to a destination device. The second wireless router has a store-and-forward controller, having a unique delay time corresponding to the unique delay, where the unique delay time is substantial and thus provides for creation of measurable latency in the message sent between an origination device and the destination device.

Apparatus and method for assessment of mesh network topology

An apparatus, including a plurality of devices, a network operations center (NOC), and a plurality of control nodes. Each device consumes a portion of the resource when turned on, and performs a corresponding function by cycling on and off to maintain a level of comfort. The NOC generates a plurality of run time schedules that coordinates run times for the each of the plurality of devices to control the peak demand of the resource, where activation of one or more of the plurality of devices is substituted in order to maintain a level of comfort. Each of the control nodes is coupled to a corresponding one of the devices. The plurality of control nodes transmits sensor data and device status to the NOC for generation of the plurality of run time schedules, and executes selected ones of the run time schedules to cycle the plurality of devices.

Apparatus and method for managing comfort in a demand coordination network

Systems and methods are disclosed to translate a desired light level at a particular task location to a light level measured by a light sensor at a non-task location such as a wall location or a light switch location. For example, the light measured on the wall may be used to accomplish daylighting energy savings while maintaining a relatively constant illuminance value at the task location. Alternatively or additionally, up/down button presses at the wall location may be used to provide constant or consistent illuminance changes at the task location.

Light measurement and/or control translation for daylighting

Some embodiments include a remote for gesture recognition for an external light system. In some embodiments, the remote may include an acceleration sensor; a wireless transceiver; memory; and a processor communicatively coupled with the acceleration sensor, the wireless transceiver, and the memory. In some embodiments, the processor may be configured to: sample acceleration data from the acceleration sensor; determine a first event type based on the acceleration data; determine a second event type based on the acceleration data; determine a command for an external system based on the first event type; and transmit the command to the external device using the wireless transceiver. In some embodiments, the first event type and/or the second event type comprises an event selected from the list consisting of a swipe, a tap, a double tap, a directional point, and a tilt; exclude the second event type.

Methods and systems herein provide for determining lighting contributions of light fixtures to an environment. In one embodiment, a system includes a light sensor and a controller. The light sensor generates light level data based on measured light levels. The controller determines a nominal light level based on the light level data, and identifies an optical burst pattern in the light level data generated by a light fixture. The controller then determines a lighting contribution of the light fixture based on the optical burst pattern and the nominal light level.

An apparatus receiving and transporting real time resource usage data, including a plurality of narrowband receivers and a controller. An apparatus transporting real time resource data, including a plurality of narrowband receivers and a controller. The a plurality of narrowband receivers is deployed geographically within a grid, where each of the plurality of narrowband receivers is configured to receive transmissions from a least one of a plurality of transmitting devices, and where each of the plurality of transmitting devices transmits identical data on each of a plurality of frequency bands that are hopped according to a hopping sequence. Apparatus and method for receiving and transporting real time energy data

Systems and methods are disclosed to control light output at one or more light fixtures based on input from one or more light detectors. Embodiments of the invention may also be used for auto commissioning, personal control and/or day lighting. Some embodiments of the invention can be used to ensure that light output at the light fixtures provides a combined uniform photometric distribution within an architectural space. Moreover, embodiments of the invention can respond to changes to ambient light, which illuminates the architectural space from a window, door, or television, etc., in a smooth and non-oscillating way. Embodiments of the invention can be implemented in lighting systems employing multiple light fixtures having one or more light source and multiple light detectors.
