A matte drafting sheet composite at least one side of which comprises a single polymeric matrix layer containing particulates to provide a matte or drafting surface and a quaternary ammonium salt of high charge density at a concentration sufficient to provide a resistivity of said matrix layer of at most about 1.times.10.sup.13 ohms/square.

Antistatic drafting films

A fast drying printing film composite for use in offset lithography and similar printing applications comprising a transparent, translucent or opaque film substrate having an ink receptive essentially transparent polymeric layer on at least one side of the substrate, said ink receptive layer containing one or more polymers or copolymers, at least one of said polymers or copolymers being soluble or swellable in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, said ink receptive layer having a solvent absorptivity of Isopar G of from 14% to 45% by weight with respect to the weight of the ink receptive layer, a Sheffield surface roughness value of less than 140 cc of air/minute and an offset dry time of less than about two hours.

Printing film

A multilayer polymeric film composite for use in the electrostatic recording process is disclosed. The film composite comprises an image receptive layer having a surface abrasivity of about 0.015 inch to about 0.085 inch and a surface roughness of about 30 to about 180 cc of air/minute, an electronically conductive layer and a supporting layer. A transport assisting layer can be coated on the side opposite to the imaging side to give a four layer film composite which provides the required friction and surface roughness to allow the film to be driven smoothly through the printing equipment. Control of the abrasivity and surface roughness of the image receptive layer is used to obtain excellent image quality. The film composite provides high image quality over a wide range of humidities and archival properties.

Film composite for electrostatic recording

Advantageous dry toner imaging film media, having good toner affinity, anti-static properties, embossing resistance, and which reliably feed through electrophotographic copiers and printers are disclosed. The media comprise suitable polymeric substrates, having an anti-static, matrix layer coated thereon. The matrix layer comprises a mixture of at least one thermoplastic polymer having a Tg of 5.degree.-75.degree. C. and possessing good toner adhesion properties, and at least one crosslinked polymer, possessing hot fuser roll embossing resistant properties, wherein at least one polymer in said matrix layer is electrically conductive. Electrophotographic processes, utilizing the film media, are also disclosed.

Dry toner imaging films possessing an anti-static matrix layer

Premature color formation and fogging in composites used in two sheet thermographic imaging systems are prevented by providing a polymeric barrier coating between the two interactive layers. The barrier coat serves to keep the volatilizable organic acid in the donor sheet from diffusing into the dye precursor receptor sheet during storage or transport, but permits the desired diffusion at thermographic imaging temperatures. Suitable barrier coat layers, which must be acid-resistant, include chlorinated rubber, chlorinated polypropylene, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, chlorinated paraffins, polystyrene and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer.

Barrier coat for use in thermographic imaging assembly

An acid donor sheet for use in thermographic imaging which comprises a substrate sheet material having a coating comprising an organic acid which is volatilizable at thermographic imaging temperatures, an additive consisting essentially of a fatty acid having from 10 to 26 carbon atoms or a metal salt thereof, and a polymeric binder compatible with said volatilizable acid. A preferred composition is salicylic acid, lauric acid and nitrocellulose on a polyester base. The acid donor sheet of the invention is particularly useful in providing color projection transparencies having improved image density, readability, and permanence.
