A coated abrasive article () comprises: a backing () comprising polyester and having a major surface (); a tie layer () directly bound to at least a portion of the major surface (); and an abrasive layer () directly bound to at least a portion of the tie layer (), the abrasive layer () comprising abrasive particles () and at least one binder resin (). The tie layer () comprises an at least partially cured blend of, on a solids basis, from 50 to 99 parts by weight of at least one styrene-butadiene copolymer latex and from 1 to 50 parts by weight of at least one resorcinol-formaldehyde resin. A treated backing () comprising polyester having the preceding tie layer () directly bound thereto is also disclosed.

A light control film is described comprising a light input surface and alight output surface opposite the light input surface; alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between the light input surface and the light output surface, wherein the absorptive regions comprise light-absorbing or light-reflecting particles and a dried aqueous dispersion of an organic polymer. The light control film can have improved on-axis transmission in combination with sufficiently high sheet resistance such that the film does not detract from the responsiveness of a touch screen of an electronic device. A light control film is described comprising alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between the light input surface and the light output surface. The absorptive regions have an aspect ratio of at least 30. In some embodiments, an absorptive layer or reflective layer is disposed between the alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions and the light input surface and/or light output surface. In another embodiment, the alternating transmissive regions comprise an absorptive material. The light control film can exhibit low transmission of visible light and high transmission of near infrared light. Also described is a light detection system comprising such light control films and a microstructured film.

A method of making a buff-coated article includes disposing a tie layer on at least a portion of a major surface of a substrate and buff-coating a powder onto at least a portion of the tie layer. Buff-coated articles are also disclosed.

A tire has a coating with a quadlayer or multiple quadlayers, and a method produces the same. In an embodiment, the method for coating a rubber substrate includes exposing the rubber substrate to a first cationic solution to produce a first cationic layer on the rubber substrate. The method also includes exposing the first cationic layer to a first anionic solution to produce a first anionic layer on the first cationic layer. In addition, the method includes exposing the first anionic layer to a second cationic solution to produce a second cationic layer on the first anionic layer. The method further includes exposing the second cationic layer to a second anionic solution to produce a second anionic layer on the second cationic layer. A quadlayer includes the first cationic layer, the first anionic layer, the second cationic layer, and the second anionic layer. The coating includes the quadlayer.
