An audio system includes at least one acoustic transducer having at least one a group of: a membrane and an acoustic modulator; or a membrane, acoustic resonator, and acoustic coupler; at least one microphone receiving an acoustic signal; a substrate; and a package. The at least one acoustic transducer and one microphone are attached to the substrate and encapsulated by the package.

Sound generation device and applications

Techniques described herein generally relate to generating an audio signal with a speaker. In some examples, a speaker device includes an acoustic medium; a time-varying acoustic coupler; and at least one ultrasound source configured to generate an audio modulated acoustic radiation signal. The ultrasound source is acoustically connected to the acoustic medium through the time-varying acoustic coupler and the time-varying acoustic coupler is configured to generate an audio signal from the audio modulated acoustic radiation signal.

System and method for generating an audio signal

A speaker array includes a first speaker device having a first membrane and a first acoustic channel, the first membrane being configured to oscillate and generate a first ultrasonic acoustic signal configured to be transmitted at least partially in the first acoustic channel, the first acoustic channel including at least one dimension comparable to a dimension of a viscous boundary layer of air. A second speaker device includes a second membrane and a second acoustic channel, the second membrane being configured to oscillate and generate a second ultrasonic acoustic signal configured to be transmitted at least partially in the second acoustic channel, the second acoustic channel including at least one dimension comparable to the dimension of the viscous boundary layer of air. An audio output of the speaker array is the combined output of at least the first speaker device and the second speaker device.

Techniques described herein generally relate to generating an audio signal with a speaker. In some examples, a speaker device includes an acoustic medium; and at least one ultrasound source coupled to the acoustic medium through at least one time-varying acoustic coupler. The acoustic coupler is configured to be electrically activated to operate at its mechanical resonance so as to generate an audio signal.

An audio system includes at least one sound generation device having at least an acoustic transducer; and an electronic integrated circuit. A communication bus is connected to the at least one sound generation device and is configured to communicate a digital signal comprised of one or more audio streams and control signals. A power bus is connected to the at least one sound generation device. The acoustic transducer includes at least one of the following groups: a membrane and an acoustic modulator; or a membrane, acoustic resonator, and acoustic coupler. The electronic integrated circuit is constructed and arranged to receive the digital signal and generate an analog electric signal to operate the acoustic transducer to generate an audio signal in accordance with the control signal.

The membrane can be configured to oscillate along a first directional path and at least one frequency effective to generate an ultrasonic acoustic signal. The shutter is positioned along the propagation of ultrasonic acoustic signal and configured to modulate the ultrasonic acoustic signal such that an audio signal is generated.

Techniques described herein generally relate to generating an audio signal with a speaker. In some examples, a speaker device is described that includes a membrane, an acoustic cavity and an acoustic channel. The membrane can be configured to oscillate along a first directional path and to generate an acoustic signal. The acoustic signal traverses the acoustic channel and generates an audio signal.

Technologies are generally described for concurrent activation of multiple illumination sources to analyze a sample. A controller may be configured to activate the illumination sources substantially simultaneously, where a current or voltage of each activated illumination source is modulated at a different frequency by respective circuit drivers of the controller. Each activated illumination source may be configured to illuminate the sample with light at a different emission wavelength, and one or more detectors may be configured to detect a composite signal from the sample in response to the illumination. The composite signal may include multiple returned signals, where each returned signal corresponds to light emitted from one of the activated illumination sources at a respective emission wavelength. One or more filters, each associated with a respective modulation frequency of one activated illumination source, may be configured to extract each returned signal from the composite signal for analysis.
