Disclosed is a display device including: a display panel on which a plurality of pixels are arranged to display an image; a gate driver supplying scan signals and emission control signals to the display panel; and a controller driving the pixels by dividing the pixels into a refresh period and a hold period, and the plurality of pixels include an electroluminescent device and a pixel circuit for driving the electroluminescent device, and the pixel circuit includes a driving transistor having a first electrode configured to be applied with a data voltage and a bias voltage, and a second electrode connected to the electroluminescent device.

Disclosed is an electroluminescent display device using a variable refresh rate (VRR) mode. The purpose of the present disclosure is to reduce the occurrence of a difference in luminance at a time point of a refresh rate change, thereby preventing viewers from perceiving the variation of the refresh rate.

Driving circuit and display device using the same

A display device includes a pixel circuit connected to a light emitting element. The pixel circuit includes a driving transistor having a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode, and a capacitor connected with the gate electrode. The pixel circuit is driven according to a first period when a reference voltage is applied to the gate electrode, a second period when a gate-source voltage difference of the driving transistor is a threshold voltage of the driving transistor, a third period when the reference voltage is applied to the capacitor, and a voltage of the gate electrode varies due to a coupling phenomenon of the capacitor, a fourth period when a high-potential voltage higher than the reference voltage is applied to the source electrode, and a fifth period when the driving transistor is turned on to cause the light emitting element to emit light.

A display device can include a light emitting element and a pixel circuit including a driving transistor; a first capacitor connected between the driving transistor and a first node; a first transistor connected between the first capacitor and a data line to operate based on a first scan signal; a first light emission transistor connected between the first capacitor and a reference voltage line to operate based on a light emission signal; and a second light emission transistor connected between the driving transistor and a low-potential voltage line to operate based on the light emission signal. The first scan signal sequentially includes a dummy scan signal section and driving scan signal section for turning on the first transistor, and the light emission signal includes a coupling period for turning on the first and second light emission transistors between the dummy scan signal section and the driving scan signal section.

An electroluminescent display device using a variable refresh rate (VRR) mode. The occurrence of a difference in luminance at a time point of a refresh rate change is reduced, thereby preventing viewers from perceiving the change of the refresh rate.

A display device according to the embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a display panel that includes a display area where a plurality of pixels is disposed and a non-display area disposed around the display area; a gate driver that provides a scan signal and an emission control signal to the display panel; and a controller that drives the display panel in accordance with a refresh rate. The plurality of pixels includes a light emitting element and a pixel circuit that drives the light emitting element. The pixel circuit is driven in sets including at least one refresh period and at least one hold period in low frequency driving. The controller controls dynamically the refresh rate during the at least one set when a gradation of an image changes, and simultaneously, changes and supplies a bias voltage during the at least one hold period.

A display device can include a light-emitting element, a driving transistor providing a driving current to the light-emitting element using a driving voltage, and a plurality of switching transistors controlling driving of the driving transistor are disposed on a display panel. A gate driving circuit supplies scan signals to the display panel through gate lines. An emission driving circuit supplies a plurality of emission signals to the display panel through a plurality of emission signal lines. A data driving circuit supplies a data voltage to the display panel. A timing controller divides the display panel into a plurality of blocks and controls a level of a bias voltage applied to the driving transistor of a corresponding block among the plurality of blocks according to a grayscale of the data voltage supplied to the corresponding block in a low-speed mode operating at a low-speed driving frequency.

The display device according to the present disclosure may comprise a display panel equipped with a plurality of pixels and a plurality of photo sensors, a data driving circuit, a gate driving circuit, and a timing controller. The source drive IC included in the data driving circuit may comprise a DAC, one or more sensing units to receive an electrical signal from the photo sensor in a display period and to receive a sensing signal from the pixel in a blank period, and an ADC to convert the signal output from the sensing unit into digital data.

The display device of the present disclosure may comprise a display panel equipped with pixels each representing image data and photo sensors each outputting an electric signal through a sensing line responding to light, a data driving circuit providing a data voltage corresponding to the image data to the pixel through a data line, a gate driving circuit supplying, through a gate line, a scan signal for controlling an application of the data voltage to the pixel disposed on a horizontal line and for controlling a connection of the photo sensor disposed on a corresponding horizontal line and the sensing line, a sensing driving circuit outputting digital sensing data by summing the electric signals of two photo sensors disposed on different horizontal lines and sharing the sensing line; and a timing controller supplying control signals for controlling the data driving circuit, the gate driving circuit and the sensing driving circuit.
