Provided is a hemostatic dressing. The hemostatic dressing includes: a porous matrix layer including a biocompatible polymer; a hemostatic layer loaded on the porous matrix layer and including a polymer in which polyhydric phenol-containing moieties are introduced; and a binding layer interposed between the porous matrix layer and the hemostatic layer to prevent the porous matrix layer from being separated from the hemostatic layer.

A composition for preventing or treating dry eye syndrome includes nanocomposite of a polyethylene glycol and a flavonoid as an active ingredient, and in the present invention, a catechin/PEG nanocomposite having increased catechin bioavailability is prepared by using catechins which are an antioxidant and polyethylene glycol which is a hydrophilic polymer used in a drug delivery system, and an increase in tear generation, stabilization of corneal epithelial cells, an increase in conjunctival goblet cells and enhanced anti-inflammatory effects accordance to a PEG dosage by the catechin/PEG nanocomposite are confirmed in a mouse model with dry eye syndrome.

The present invention relates to a hemostatic injection needle coated with a chitosan in which a catechol group and an oxidized catechol group are introduced and cross-linked. The hemostatic injection needle according to the present invention can suppress bleeding during and after injection, and thus can be effectively used for injection not only into coagulopathy patients, including diabetic patients, patients under anticancer treatment, and haemophilia patients, who have a low hemostatic ability, but also into patients showing blood rejection responses, and children.

Disclosed is a carbon material for a neurostimulation electrode. The carbon material is composed of a carbon fiber. The carbon fiber has a thickness of 1 to 1000 &#x3bc;m, a linear density of 0.01 to 5.00 g/cm, and an aspect ratio of 100 to 1,000,000. Particularly, the carbon fiber material can be obtained by dry spinning carbon nanotubes, followed by liquid-based densification. The carbon material can be used in the fields of deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, etc. Also disclosed are an electrode assembly and a neurostimulation device, each including the carbon material.

The present invention relates to a conjugate of a protein or peptide with a polyethylene glycol derivative having catechol, wherein the protein or peptide is mono-PEGylated at the N-terminal with the polyethylene glycol derivative, and to a preparation method thereof. According to the invention, the catechol-PEG derivative can be site-specifically conjugated with the N-terminal amine group of a protein or peptide, so that a homogeneous polyethylene glycol-protein or -peptide conjugate can be obtained in high yield. Unlike a prior art conjugate, the conjugate obtained according to the invention allows the decrease in the activity of the protein to be minimized without chemically modifying the protein, and thus the conjugate has an excellent pharmacological effect. Also, because the conjugate is homogeneous, the process for preparing the conjugate can be simplified. Moreover, the conjugate has uniform biological efficacy in vivo and shows strong resistance to hydrolysis and thus a long in vivo duration time. Accordingly, the conjugate has the effect of increasing the in vivo efficacy and stability of the protein drug.

Conjugate of catechol-modified polyethylene glycol with protein or peptide and preparation method thereof

Acetic ester is produced economically by a gas phase carbonylation of methanol with carbon monoxide followed by a transesterification. Specifically, the inventive process comprises (a) carbonylating methanol in a gas phase with carbon monoxide to produce a mixture of acetic acid and methyl acetate; (b) separating from the production mixture the acetic acid, and a mixture of the methyl acetate and the co-catalyst; (c) further separating said methyl acetate and the co-catalyst and recycling the separated co-catalyst to the carbonylation reactor; (d) introducing the separated methyl acetate into a lower region of a transesterification reactor at a temperature of above its boiling point; (e) introducing an C.sub.2 or higher alcohol into an upper region of the trans-esterification reactor at a temperature of up to its boiling point; (f) transesterifying the methyl acetate with the alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst to produce a mixture containing acetic esters; and (g) recovering the acetic esters from the mixture as a bottom product while recycling the unreacted methyl acetate and methanol to the carbonylation reactor or distillation column.
