A slickline that includes both electrically conductive and fiber optic capacity. The slickline includes a fiber optic thread or bundle of threads that may be surrounded by an electrically conductive member such as split half shells of copper elements. Further, these features may be disposed in a filler matrix so as to provide a cohesiveness the core of the slickline. So, for example, the line may be more effectively utilized in downhole applications such as coiled tubing operations, without undue concern over collapse or pinhole issues emerging in the line.

Packoff seals and processes for using same. In some examples, the packoff seal can include a first end cap and a second end cap, a first insert and a second insert, a first deformable element disposed between the first end cap and the first insert, a second deformable element disposed between the second insert and the second end cap, and a third deformable element disposed between the first insert and the second insert. The first end cap, the first deformable element, the first insert, the third deformable element, the second insert, the second deformable element, and the second end cap together can form a body having a bore extending therethrough. The first deformable element, the second deformable element, and the third deformable element can have a compressive strength that is less than a compressive strength of the first and second inserts.

Packoff seals and processes for using same

Electrical conductors and processes for making and using same. In some examples, the electrical conductors can include an inner electrically conductive element, which can define a central longitudinal axis. A first polymer layer can be disposed circumferentially about the inner electrically conductive element. A plurality of electrical conductor segments can be disposed about the first polymer layer and spaced around the central longitudinal axis. A second polymer layer can be disposed between the electrical conductor segments. The second polymer layer and the electrical conductor segments together can define a substantially annular cross-sectional area and an outer perimeter surface. An electrical insulator can be disposed about the outer perimeter surface defined by the second polymer layer and the electrical conductor segments.

An apparatus for releasably connecting a cable with a tool that has an outer cone. The outer cone has a lower portion and an upper portion. A weak point is located between the lower portion and upper portion. The apparatus also includes an inner cone configured to fit within the outer cone.

Methods and apparatus for releasably connecting a cable with a tool

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a method and a system to deploy a downhole pump within a well. The system includes the downhole pump disposed in a well, the downhole pump having a motor, and a cable having at least one strength member layer bonded to a cable core, in which a first end is connected to a power source disposed at a surface of the well and a second end is connected to the downhole pump. The cable is configured to support and power the downhole pump in the well.

A hydrocarbon application hose to avoid substantial compression and blow-out resulting from high pressurization differentials therethrough. The hose is formed from an inner tube that has a layer of material with electromagnetic target, such as carbon fiber, disbursed therethrough. In this manner, the material, generally a polymer, may be electromagnetically heated once the layer has been wrapped with a metallic reinforcing member. Thus, the layer of material may transform into surrounding relation relative to the reinforcing member. A substantially unitary inner tube may thereby be provided that includes a reinforcing member for blowout resistance and is of unitary character for compression resistance.

Enhanced electrical seismic land cable

A heating and distributed-temperature-sensor cable permanently fixed in a wellbore that permits known amounts of heat to be introduced to subsurface formations and improved temperature measurement thereof. The heat is introduced into a target zone of the wellbore by forming the cable in two sections: an upper section that carries an electrical current without generating significant amounts of heat, and a lower section that generates heat from the electrical current. Continuous distributed-temperature-sensing is performed through measuring various scattering mechanism in optical fibers that run the length of the cable.

Active cable for wellbore heating and distributed temperature sensing

An oil and gas well assembly is provided that includes a wireline cable having at least one optical fiber; a downhole tool having at least one optical fiber; and a cablehead having a first end connected to the wireline cable, a second end connected to the downhole tool. The cablehead further includes at least one optical fiber which transmits data between the at least one downhole tool optical fiber and the at least one wireline cable optical fiber.
