A microcontroller comprises a plurality of digital peripheral blocks and a direct memory access (DMA) controller coupled thereto. The plurality of digital peripheral blocks includes a digital peripheral block that is configured to issue a DMA request. Upon receipt of the DMA request, the DMA controller is configured to retrieve configuration information and to write the configuration information to a configuration register associated with a circuit element of the microcontroller.

Combined analog architecture and functionality in a mixed-signal array

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a microcontroller device having a microprocessor, programmable memory components, and programmable analog and digital blocks. The programmable analog and digital blocks are configurable based on programming information stored in the memory components. Programmable interconnect logic, also programmable from the memory components, is used to couple the programmable analog and digital blocks as needed. The advanced microcontroller design also includes programmable input/output blocks for coupling selected signals to external pins. The memory components also include user programs that the embedded microprocessor executes. These programs may include instructions for programming the digital and analog blocks 'on-the-fly,' e.g., dynamically. In one implementation, there are a plurality of programmable digital blocks and a plurality of programmable analog blocks.

Microcontroller programmable system on a chip

A programmable device comprises a plurality of programmable blocks, a debug interface coupled with the plurality of programmable blocks, a debug interface coupled with the plurality of programmable blocks, and a power manger coupled with the plurality of programmable blocks. The power manager is configured to supply power to a subset of the plurality of programmable blocks during debugging of the subset while maintaining a different subset of the plurality of programmable blocks in a lower power mode.

An example semiconductor chip includes analog circuits, digital circuits, and a digital input port. The digital input port is to receive an input signal. The analog circuit is to receive the input signal from the digital input port and produce a digital signal based on the input signal.

PSoC architecture

A first analog block includes a first plurality of switched capacitors and a second analog block includes a second plurality of switched capacitors. A switch associated with the first plurality of switched capacitors as well as a switch associated with the second plurality of switched capacitors may be configured based on one or more analog functions. The configuring of the first analog and the second analog block may include the configuring of the switch associated with the first plurality of switched capacitors when the analog function is associated with a first single ended signal and the configuring of both the switch associated with the first plurality of switched capacitors and the switch associated with the second plurality of switched capacitors when the analog function is associated with a differential signal.

Programmable switched capacitor block

A programmable device comprises a plurality of programmable blocks, a debug interface coupled with the plurality of programmable blocks, and a power manager coupled with the plurality of programmable blocks. The power manager is configured to supply power to a subset of the plurality of programmable blocks during debugging of the subset while maintaining a different subset of the plurality of programmable blocks in a lower power mode.

A programmable system includes a programmable analog system that is reconfigurable to perform various analog operations, and includes a programmable digital system that is reconfigurable to perform various digital operations. The programmable system also includes a microcontroller capable of reconfiguring and controlling the programmable analog system and the programmable digital system. The programmable digital system is configured to control the programmable analog system autonomously of the microcontroller.

Autonomous control in a programmable system

A circuit with a plurality of analog circuit blocks, each configured to provide at least one analog function and a programmable interconnect coupled of the analog circuit blocks and configurable to interconnect combinations of the analog circuit blocks to one another. The circuit is formed in an integrated circuit (chip) and the programmable interconnect comprises a plurality of switches coupled between the analog circuit blocks and ports that provide signal connections for the chip.

PSOC architecture

A first portion of a programmable switched capacitor block includes a first plurality of switched capacitors and a second portion of the programmable switched capacitor block includes a second plurality of switched capacitors. A first switch associated with the first plurality of switched capacitors as well as a second switch associated with the second plurality of switched capacitors may be configured based on a type of analog function that is to be provided. The configuring of the first analog and the second analog block may include the configuring of the first switch associated with the first plurality of switched capacitors when the analog function operates on a first single ended signal and the configuring of both the first and second switches when the analog function operates on a differential signal.

A system and apparatus are described for providing greater flexibility and performance in a mixed-signal array through improved and highly configurable routing, control elements and signal processing capabilities.

Buffer circuit embodiments are described. A buffer circuit includes an input configured to receive an input signal and a buffer configured to generate an output signal based on the input signal. In one embodiment, the buffer circuit includes a programmable chopping module coupled with the buffer, wherein the programmable chopping module is programmable with a selected configuration from a plurality of configurations, and wherein the programmable chopping modulates the input signal based on the selected configuration. In another embodiment, the buffer circuit further includes a programmable output filter coupled with the buffer, wherein the programmable output filter is programmable with a selected configuration form a plurality of configurations, and wherein the programmable output filter filters a frequency band of the output signal based on the selected configuration.
