A method and an apparatus for producing mop trimmings from a twisted yarn () which is cut into pieces is described. In order to prevent any untwisting of the yarn pieces it is proposed that the twisted yarn () is subjected to a needling prior to cutting.

In a method for treating a yarn by needling, with the yarn fibers being drawn transversally to the longitudinal direction of the yarn, it is proposed that fibers of a yarn formed from staple fibers are needled in a brush support before the yarn is removed from the brush support.

An apparatus is described for needling at least one yarn ( ) with at least one needle board ( ) which is reciprocatable in the needling direction, with a stitch base ( ) which is disposed opposite of the needle board ( ) and is made of an endlessly revolving brush belt ( ), and with a stripper ( ) which is disposed between the stitch base ( ) and the needle board and which forms at least one guide duct ( ) for the yarn ( ) extending in the revolving direction ( ) of the brush belt ( ) and comprises in the region of said guide duct ( ) pass-through openings ( ) for the needles ( ) of the needle board ( ). In order to provide advantageous needling conditions it is proposed that the guide duct ( ) is provided between guide walls ( ) engaging in the brush belt ( ), which guide walls delimit a duct cross section which tapers towards the yarn ( ) in the region of the brush engagement.

Apparatus for needling at least one yarn

The description refers to a facility for needling of fleece with a needle bar ( ) taking up at least one needle board ( ), which is driven to and fro via axially displaceable pushing rods ( ) by means of an eccentric drive ( ). To facilitate a longer needle board in fleece feed direction, we suggest to fix the needle bar ( ) at two rows of pushing rods ( ), arranged in tandem at some distance from each other in fleece feed direction and connected via a crosshead ( ), and to make the eccentric drive ( ) act upon the crosshead ( ).

Facility for needling of fleece

The description refers to a facility for needling of a patterned width of felt (,) by means of a needling equipment comprising at least one needle board (,) and a felt guide between a felt bed (,) and a stripper (,), with the felt bed (,) consisting either of lamellas (,) running in felt feed direction (,) or of a circulating brush-type bed moving along with the width of felt (,) in felt feed direction (,). The description relates to a facility for needling of fleece with at least one needle board (,) that can be driven to and fro in stitching direction (,) by means of pushing rods (,) borne displaceable in one guide sleeve (,) each, and with an additional drive (,) reciprocating in fleece feed direction (,) and effective on the movably borne guide sleeves (,), which is equipped with two parallel eccentric shafts (,). To achieve simple constructional features it is suggested to bear the guide sleeves (,) via two brackets (,) on the eccentrics (,) of the two equidirectionally driven eccentric shafts (,), and to connect them non-rotatable with at least one of these brackets (,).
