The invention relates to methods for producing supported catalysts, comprising: providing a metal foam element A made of nickel; applying an aluminum-containing powder MP to metal foam element A, such that metal foam element AX is obtained; thermally treating metal foam element AX in order to form an alloy between metal foam element A and the aluminum-containing powder MP, such that metal foam element B is obtained; oxidatively treating metal foam element B, such that metal foam element C is obtained; and applying a catalytically active layer, comprising at least one carrier oxide and at least one catalytically active component, to at least one part of the surface of metal foam element C, such that a supported catalyst is obtained. The invention also relates to the supported catalysts obtained according to the method, and to the use thereof in chemical transformations.

Metal foam supported catalyst and method for the production thereof

The present invention relates to a method for producing supported catalysts, comprising: providing a metal foam element A, which consists of metallic cobalt, an alloy of nickel and cobalt, or an arrangement of layers of nickel and cobalt, lying one over the other; applying an aluminum-containing powder MP to metal foam element A in order to obtain metal foam element AX; thermally treating metal foam element AX to achieve alloy formation between metal foam element A and aluminum-containing powder MP, in order to obtain metal foam element B; oxidatively treating metal foam element B, in order to obtain metal foam element C; and applying a catalytically active layer, comprising at least one support oxide and at least one catalytically active component, to at least part of the surface of metal foam element C, in order to obtain a supported catalyst. The present invention further relates to the supported catalysts that can be obtained using the method and to the use of said supported catalysts in chemical transformations.

Metal foam element containing cobalt and method for producing same

The present invention relates to processes for producing metal foam bodies, in which metal-containing powders that may comprise aluminium and chromium or molybdenum are applied to metal foam bodies that may comprise nickel, cobalt, copper and iron and then treated thermally, wherein the highest temperature in the thermal treatment of the metal foam bodies is in the range from 680 to 715° C., and wherein the total duration of the thermal treatment within the temperature range from 680 to 715° C. is between 5 and 240 seconds. Following this method of thermal treatment can achieve alloy formation at the contact surface between metal foam body and metal-containing powder, but simultaneously leave unalloyed regions within the metal foam. The present invention further comprises processes comprising the treatment of the alloyed metal foam bodies with basic solution. The present invention further comprises the metal foam bodies obtainable by these processes, which find use, for example, as support and structure components and in catalyst technology.

Metal foam bodies and process for production thereof

A catalytic reactor for industrial-scale hydrogenation processes is described. The catalytic reactor contains a catalytic fixed bed that comprises a support structure and a catalyst. During operation of the reaction in the catalytic reactor, the fixed bed is filled with reaction medium to at least 85% by volume. A very high contact area of the catalyst with the reaction medium is at the same time provided. The support structure is formed from material webs having a thickness of 5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, with a crosslinking density of at least 3 mmpresent. The support structure consists of metals selected from elements of groups 8, 6 and 11 of the periodic table of the elements and mixtures thereof.

Process for preparing 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine

Nitro-compounds are hydrogenated with an activated Ni catalyst whose Ni/Al alloy also contained one or more elements from the list of Cu, Ag and Au prior to activation. Nitro-compounds are hydrogenated with an activated Ni catalyst that has an average particle size (APS) less than 25 &#x3bc;m and is doped with one or more elements from the list of Mg, Ce, Ti, V, Nb, Cr, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au and Bi via its/their addition to the alloy before activation and/or doped with one or more elements from the list of Mg, Ce, Ti, V, Nb, Cr, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Cu, Ag, Au and Bi by their adsorption onto the surface of the activated catalyst. This invention also includes the hydrogenation of nitro-compounds with an activated Ni catalyst that has and APS less than 20 &#x3bc;m and is doped with one or more elements from the list of Mg, Ce, Ti, V, Nb, Cr, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Tr, Pt, Pd, Mo, Cu, Ag, Au and Bi via its/their addition to the alloy before activation and/or doped with one or more elements from the list of Mg, Ce, Ti, V, Nb, Cr, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Cu, Pd, Pt, Mo, Ag, Au and Bi by their adsorption onto the surface of the activated catalyst.

Nitro-compounds are hydrogenated with an activated Ni catalyst that is doped during and/or after activation with one or more elements from the list of Mg, Ca, Ba, Ti, Zr, Ce, Nb, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Co, Ir, Ni, Cu, Ag, Au, Rh, Ru and Bi whereas the Ni/Al alloy may not, but preferentially can contain prior to activation one or more doping elements from the list of Ti, Ce, V, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt and Bi. If the Ni/Al alloy contained one or more of the above mentioned suitable alloy doping elements prior to activation, the resulting catalyst can then be doped with one or more of the elements from the list of Mg, Ca, Ba, Ti, Zr, Ce, V, Nb, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au and Bi by their adsorption onto the surface of the catalyst.
