A touch screen and method for manufacturing a touch screen includes a transparent substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The transparent substrate has a first transparent conductive layer disposed on the first surface. A cover sheet is spaced from the substrate by a plurality of spacer elements and has a second transparent conductive layer coated at a surface of the cover sheet and opposed to the first transparent conductive layer. An electromagnetic interference shield is disposed at the second surface of the transparent substrate. The electromagnetic interference shield includes a third transparent conductive layer.

Resistive touch screen and method for manufacturing same

A touch sensor, such as a capacitive touch sensor, includes a substrate having at least one passageway established therethrough. A first conductive coating is established at a first surface of the substrate, and a conductive element is disposed at the substrate and at least partially through the passageway. The conductive element establishes conductive continuity between the first surface and second or opposite surface of the substrate. A thin sheet (such as a thin glass or plastic sheet) is disposed at and over the first surface of the substrate. The passageway may comprise multiple passageways established inboard of a perimeter edge of the substrate. The thin glass or plastic sheet may be laminated at or to the substrate.

Touch sensor and method for manufacturing same

A capacitive touch screen and method of manufacturing such a touch screen includes providing a substrate and coating a surface of the substrate with a transparent conductive coating. An uncured conductive electrode material, such as an uncured silver epoxy material or an uncured silver or equivalent conducting metallic paste material, is disposed at least over a portion of the transparent conductive coating to establish a precursor of at least one metallic electrode at the substrate surface. A precursor of a protective hardcoat is established at least over the transparent conductive coating and/or the metallic electrode. Such precursor/undercured/uncured layers are then cured via a single common curing/firing process, which may heat the substrate and coatings to an elevated temperature, such as at about 500 degrees Celsius or above.

Capacitive touch screen and method of making same

A system for coating a substrate surface with a diffuser coating includes an ultrasonic vibrating device, a supply device and a low pressure air source. The supply device supplies a liquid coating material or precursor solution to the ultrasonic vibrating device. The ultrasonic vibrating device is operable to vibrate to atomize the coating material and to discharge airborne particles at a discharge end of the ultrasonic vibrating device. The low pressure air source generates low pressure air flow generally proximate to the discharge end to guide at least some of the airborne particles onto the substrate surface. The ultrasonic vibrating device may be at a coating chamber and the substrate may be positionable within the coating chamber. A conveyor may be operable to convey substrates through the coating chamber, whereby the coating particles are guided onto the substrate surface as the substrate moves through the coating chamber.
