A prosthetic assembly is provided. The prosthetic assembly comprises: a tibial tray having a medial retaining bracket, a lateral retaining bracket and a substantially centrally disposed boss, a medial bearing, a lateral bearing and a retention clip having a pair or arms which engage opposite sides of the boss and trap the medial lateral bearings, against the medial and lateral retaining brackets, respectively. A method of securing bearing components to a prosthetic assembly is also provided.

Anterior locking clip

A rotary mill comprising a body portion having a milling surface for milling a first bone, a guide portion having a guide body, and inter-engageable guide formations formed on the body portion and guide portion, the guide body having a projection which is adapted to hold a second bone away from the rotary mill during the milling operation.

Rotary mill

A ligament assembly () comprising a resilient element () connected to a bone anchor () and a ligament (), the resilient element () acting m a cantilever and resisting toads transmitted between the bone anchor () and the ligament () by virtue of the resistance to bending of the resilient element. The ligament () may comprise an artificial ligament () which is adapted to replace a human or animal ligament. The resilient element () may comprise a spiral spring and may act as a biasing element/shock absorber operatively coupled to the artificial ligament () to control the effective stiffness of the artificial ligament (). Consequently, the resilient element () enables an effective stiffness of the artificial ligament () to be achieved that more closely approximates the stiffness of a natural ligament.

Ligament assembly

An artificial ligament is provided having an elongate body and two ends, with a loop being provided at least one of the ends and a loop liner being provided within the loop. A kit of artificial ligaments is also provided with each ligament in the kit having a different fixed length. Also provided are methods for determining a length of artificial ligament to be used within a prosthetic knee joint, selecting a ligament from a range or kit of ligaments, and implanting a prosthetic knee joint assembly comprising an artificial ligament.

Ligament fixing and a method of attaching a ligament

A rotary mill is disclosed comprising a body portion () having a milling surface () and a central bore () extending along an axis of rotation () of the body portion (); and a guide portion () having a guide body () and a guide peg () extending from the guide body (), the guide peg () operable to be received in the central bore () of the body portion (), the guide body () having at least one alignment feature () which is the same as that of a prosthesis component. A method of implanting a unicondylar femoral component is also disclosed, the method comprising, a) reaming the femoral condylar surface to accept the unicondylar femoral component; b) drilling peg holes for affixing the unicondylar femoral component; c) affixing a guide portion of a rotary mill onto the prepared condylar surface using the drilled peg holes; d) reaming a portion of bone anterior to the affixed guide portion; e) removing the guide portion from the bone; and f) affixing a unicondylar femoral component to the prepared condylar surface.

A surgical impactor () for inserting a prosthetic implant () into a bone, the surgical impactor () comprising: a movable retaining means () for releasably connecting the implant () to the surgical impactor (), wherein the movable retaining means () has a first position in which the implant () is connected to the surgical impactor () and a second position in which the implant () is not connected to the surgical impactor (); and a mechanism () for moving the movable retaining means () between the first and second positions, wherein the movable retaining means () and the mechanism () are removable from the surgical impactor ().

Surgical impactor

A drill guide comprising: a body comprising a hole extending therethrough for guiding a drill; and an alignment tool, the alignment tool being operable to connect the body to an intramedullary rod, such that the orientation of the body is fixable with respect to the intramedullary rod in an anteroposterior plane and in a transverse plane.
