Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for optimizing procedures to update a UE radio capability ID (URCID) when a UE moves to a new Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) within a registration area. The techniques may help avoid unnecessary signaling traffic and reduce UE power consumption. An example method performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes receiving at least one URCID assigned by a first PLMN; and taking one or more actions to delay or avoid updating the URCID when moving to a second PLMN in a same registration area as the first PLMN.

The UE may establish a second call associated with a second subscriber of the UE, wherein the first subscriber and the second subscriber are active contemporaneously, and wherein the first call and the second call are associated with a first radio access technology (RAT). The UE may identify a mobility event that associated with an interruption to at least one of the first call and the second call, the mobility event involving switching the first subscriber to a second RAT. The UE may perform a mitigation action. Numerous other aspects are described.

Techniques for mobility for dual subscriber dual active user equipment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to transmit sounding reference signals (SRSs) on a first carrier over multiple symbols within a slot, the first carrier being different from a second carrier on which the UE communicates with a base station during the slot. For example, the base station may transmit, to the UE, an SRS configuration for the UE to transmit the SRSs. In accordance with the control message, the UE may tune to the first carrier and may transmit the SRSs over the multiple symbols within the slot on the first carrier before tuning back to the second carrier. In some examples, the UE may transmit a capability message to the base station indicating that the UE supports transmitting SRSs over multiple symbols within a slot before tuning back to a different carrier.

A method includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from an application, a request for at least one of establishment of a packet data unit (PDU) session or uplink (UL) data transfer via a previously established PDU session. The method additionally includes evaluating that access to a first network (e.g., a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network) is barred. The method also includes determining that the access barring time exceeds a threshold, and checking, in response to the determining, that configured policies permit the PDU session to be on a second network (e.g., a non-3GPP network). A user equipment (UE) may be configured to include procedures to mitigate denial of service (DoS) attack by a rogue base station when the initial non-access stratum (NAS) messages between the UE and a mobility management entity (MME) is unprotected. UE may maintain a temporary forbidden network list, which resides outside a subscriber identity module (SIM), and update a forbidden network list, which resides on the SIM, only under certain conditions. For example, a visited network, from which the UE receives a reject message, may be added to the forbidden network list on the SIM only when a counter associated with the visited network is equal to a maximum counter value, which is configured by the UE.
