A network receives an indication of user consent from a user equipment (UE) to access UE information for the purposes of edge computing. The network receives an indication of user consent from a UE, the user consent corresponding to a network function acquiring UE information, receives the UE information and performs operations related to establishing a connection between the UE and an edge data network.

Network operations to receive user consent for edge computing

A user equipment (UE) may attempt to access an edge data network. The UE generates a first credential based on a second credential, the second credential generated for a procedure between the UE and a cellular network, generating an identifier corresponding to the first credential, and generates a multi-access edge computing (MEC) authorization parameter. The UE then transmits an application registration request message to a server associated with an edge data network, the application registration request message including an indication of the first credential, the identifier corresponding to the first credential and the first authorization parameter. The UE then receives an authentication accept message or an authentication reject message from the server associated with the edge data network.

User equipment authentication and authorization procedure for edge data network

An edge enabler server of an edge data network is configured to receive a verification request comprising an edge enabler client identification (EEC ID), wherein the EEC ID uniquely identifies an edge enabler client (EEC), determine whether the EEC ID is an authorized EEC ID and provide a verification response based on whether the EEC ID is authorized.

An approach is described for a base station to generate a first message and a second message. The base station transmits the first message and the second message to a user equipment (UE). The first message is associated with a cell supported by the base station and includes a first public land mobile network (PLMN) identity index and a first list of one or more network slices supported by a first PLMN associated with the first PLMN identity index. The second message is associated with one or more neighboring cells, and includes the first PLMN identity index and a second list of one or more network slice data associated the first PLMN as supported by the one or more neighboring cells. Systems and methods for using integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes configured to provide multi-access edge computing (MEC) functionality are disclosed herein. An TAB node includes a distributed unit (DU) having a local application instance of a MEC-enabled application. The local application instance is configured for communication with a first user equipment (UE) connected to the TAB node. A mobile termination functionality (MT) of the IAB node uses a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer to transport data of the local application instance between the MT and an IAB donor. Further, data of the local application instance is transported between the UE and the TAB node via one of a variety of methods, including the use of a second PDCP layer at the DU (and optionally the use of service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layers at each of the DU and the MT), and/or via sidelink.

Systems and methods for IAB MEC

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for using integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes configured to provide multi-access edge computing (MEC) functionality. An IAB node may include a MEC functionality that includes an instance of an application configured for MEC. A UE using the application connects to the network through an access link with the IAB node and establishes a PDU session for traffic of the application with a core network (CN). The CN may determine that the traffic corresponds to the application, and that an instance of the application is present on the IAB node. Accordingly, the CN may instruct the IAB donor to instantiate a remote packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer and, in some cases, a remote service data application (SDAP) layer that are configured to route the traffic from the UE for the application to the instance of the application on the IAB node.

Systems and methods for configuring communication with an IAB MEC

A network may authenticate a user equipment (UE) to access an edge data network. The network generates a first credential based on a second credential, the second credential generated for a procedure between the UE and a cellular network corresponding to the network component, receives an identifier associated with the first credential from a further network component in response to the UE transmitting an application registration request to a server associated with an edge data network and retrieves the first credential based on the identifier. The network also receives a multi-access edge computing (MEC) authorization parameter, verifies the MEC authorization parameter and transmits an authentication verification response to a second network component.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for reducing wireless device service interruptions. An indication of a disaster condition may be provided to a wireless device. The disaster condition may affect a home public land mobile network of the wireless device. The wireless device may perform cell selection in a manner influenced by the indication of the disaster condition. This may include considering cells associated with a forbidden public land mobile network for the cell selection, or excluding cells associated with the home public land mobile network of the wireless device that are unavailable, for example due to the disaster condition, among various possibilities.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for emergency communications (e.g., voice calls and/or SMS messages) for UE's without cellular coverage (e.g., in non-cellular coverage). A UE may establish, while out of range of cellular service, a peer-to-peer communication session with a relay UE using a channel in an unlicensed frequency band. The UE may transmit, using the peer-to-peer communication session, an emergency notification to the relay UE. The emergency notification may include an approximate location of the UE. Further the UE may communicate with a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), where the communications may be relayed between the UE and the PSAP by the relay UE. The approximate location of the UE may be based, at least in part, on a location of the relay UE and determining the approximate location of the UE may include performing a ranging procedure with the relay UE.

Emergency communication in non-cellular coverage

Disclosed are embodiments for authentication and authorization in a 5G network between an edge enabler client (EEC) of a UE and an edge configuration server (ECS). The embodiment include performing primary authentication with the 5G network to obtain a K; generating a Kand a KID using the Kand a subscription permanent identifier (SUPI); providing the Kand the KID to the EEC to cause it to compute a MACusing the Kand an EEC ID; and sending to the ECS an application registration request, the application registration request including the EEC ID, MACEEC, and KID.
