In one embodiment, a thin film solid state lithium ion secondary battery is able to be charged and discharged in the air and is able to be manufactured stably at a favorable yield. The thin film solid state lithium ion secondary battery has an electric insulating substrate formed from an organic resin, an inorganic insulating film provided on the substrate face, a cathode-side current collector film, a cathode active material film, a solid electrolyte film, an anode potential formation layer, and an anode-side current collector film. The cathode-side current collector film and/or the anode-side current collector film is formed on the inorganic insulating film face. The anode potential formation layer is a layer formed from the same material as that of the cathode active material film or a material different from that of the cathode active material film and is a layer provided for forming anode potential at the time of discharge.

Thin film solid state lithium ion secondary battery and method of manufacturing the same

A secondary battery capable of improving cycle characteristics is provided. An anode includes: an anode active material layer on an anode current collector, the anode active material layer including a plurality of anode active material particles, in which the average particle area of the plurality of anode active material particles observed from a surface of the anode active material layer is within a range of 1 &#x3bc;mto 60 &#x3bc;mboth inclusive.

Anode and secondary battery

In one embodiment, a thin film solid state lithium ion secondary battery is able to be charged and discharged in the air and manufactured stably at a favorable yield. The thin film solid state lithium ion secondary battery has an electric insulating substrate formed from an organic resin, an inorganic insulating film provided on the substrate face, a cathode-side current collector film, a cathode active material film, a solid electrolyte film, an anode potential formation layer, and an anode-side current collector film. The cathode-side current collector film and/or the anode-side current collector film is formed on the inorganic insulating film face. The anode potential formation layer is a layer formed from the same material as that of the cathode active material film or a material different from that of the cathode active material film and is a layer provided for forming anode potential at the time of discharge.

The invention provides a battery, which can improve battery characteristics such as high temperature storage characteristics. The battery comprises a battery device, wherein a cathode and an anode are wound with a separator in between. The anode contains an anode material capable of inserting and extracting Li as an anode active material. An electrolytic solution is impregnated in the separator. The electrolytic solution contains a solvent, and an electrolyte salt such as Li[B(CF)] dissolved in the solvent, which is expressed by a chemical formula of Li[B(RF1)(RF2)(RF3)RF4]. RF1, RF2, RF3, and RF4 represent a perfluoro alkyl group whose number of fluorine or carbon is from 1 to 12, respectively. Consequently, high temperature storage characteristics are improved.

There is provided an anode for a lithium ion secondary battery capable of improving the cycle characteristics, a lithium ion secondary battery using the same, an electric power tool using the lithium ion secondary battery, an electrical vehicle using the lithium ion secondary battery, and an electric power storage system using the lithium ion secondary battery. The anode for a lithium ion secondary battery includes an anode active material layer in which a first layer and a second layer respectively containing silicon and a metal element as an anode active material are alternately layered on an anode current collector, and 1.02&#x2266;A/B&#x2266;50 is satisfied. A represents a silicon content ratio in the anode active material in the first layer, and B represents a silicon content ratio in the anode active material in the second layer.

A secondary battery electrode includes an active material layer configured to be provided on a current collector and be obtained by stacking a plurality of active material sub-layers composed of an active material. Pores of which pore diameter along a thickness direction of the active material layer is 3 to 300 nm are formed along a boundary between the active material sub-layers, and at least a part of the pores is filled with an electrolyte and/or a product arising from reduction of the electrolyte upon assembling of a secondary battery.

A battery is provided which has a high capacity and can improve battery characteristics, such as cycle characteristics. The battery includes a spirally wound electrode body, wherein a cathode and an anode are wound with a separator in between. The anode includes, for example, simple substances, alloys, compounds of metal elements or metalloid elements capable of forming an alloy with Li, the like and combinations thereof. An electrolytic solution wherein an electrolyte salt is dissolved in a solvent is impregnated in the separator. For the electrolyte salt, a light metallic salt having B&#x2014;O bond or P&#x2014;O bond, such as difluoro[oxalato-O,O']lithium borate and tetra fluoro[oxalato-O,O&#x2032;]lithium phosphate, can be used. By forming a stable coating, decomposition reaction of the solvent can be inhibited, and reaction between the anode and the solvent can be prevented.

A negative electrode is provided. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode current collector, and a negative electrode active material layer formed over the negative electrode current collector, and including a plurality of columnar bodies. An organic material layer having ion conductivity is held by said negative electrode active material layer, said organic material layer is formed at least in an inside of each of said columnar bodies. The active material layer may include silicon.

Battery having electrolye with high molecular weight compound

A battery with a high battery voltage at charging and improved energy density is provided. A cathode () and an anode () are laminated with a separator () sandwiched therebetween which is impregnated with an electrolyte. The cathode () has a cathode active material including a lithium composite oxide which contains lithium, at least either cobalt or nickel, and oxygen. The battery voltage at charging is 4.25 V or more. The total amount of lithium carbonate and lithium sulphate in the cathode () to the cathode active material is 1.0 wt % or less, a concentration of protic impurities in the electrolyte, which is converted to a mass ratio of protons to the electrolyte, is 20 ppm or less, or moisture content in the electrolyte is 20 ppm mass ratio or less to the electrolyte. This inhibits metal eluting from the lithium composite oxide even at high voltages.

The invention provides a battery achieving excellent battery characteristics by using, as an anode active material, any of metal elements and metalloid elements each of which can form an alloy with a lithium, alloys of these elements, and compounds of these elements. Mesh projections as a frame structure are formed on the surface on the side facing an anode active material layer, of an anode collector. By the mesh projections, expansion and contraction in the plane direction of the anode active material layer is suppressed. Thus, pulverization, peeling, and the like of the anode active material layer caused by expansion and contraction thereof are prevented and the cycle characteristics are improved.
