One embodiment provides a method of providing low power operations in a switchable Digital Video Broadcasting&#x2014;Handheld (DVB-H) receiver operable as a single receiver and as a diversity receiver includes operating the switchable DVB-H receiver in a single receiver mode in a first coverage region, the first coverage region corresponding to conditions in which both the single receiver as well as the diversity receiver satisfy a predetermined performance criteria, and switching the switchable DVB-H receiver to a diversity receiver mode in a second coverage region, the second coverage region corresponding to conditions in which the diversity receiver satisfies the predetermined performance criteria and the single receiver does not satisfy the predetermined performance criteria.

The process of managing access may comprise alerting the user with information pertaining to the specified television programming.

A wireless communications device uses an amplifier module to transmit signals. The amplifier module is configured to amplify a signal. The amplifier module includes an amplifier circuit and a control module. The control module is configured to vary the operating parameters of the amplifier circuit based on a desired output power level. The control module relies on stored data values to dynamically vary the operating parameters of the amplifier circuit so as to increase the efficiency of the amplifier circuit.

System and method for dynamically varying operational parameters of an amplifier

A system for receiving a transmitted signal is provided. The system includes a first receiver that can receive the transmitted signal and decode the transmitted signal according to a first demodulation format, such as a CDMA or PCS format. A second receiver, such as an FM demodulator, is connected to the first receiver at a suitable location, such as after initial signal amplification and processing has been completed. The second receiver can decode the transmitted signal according to a second demodulation format, such as AMPS.

A communications device includes an amplifier module configured to amplify a signal. The amplifier module includes a parallel arrangement of amplifiers each designed to operate with increased efficiency for different power level ranges. A controllable switch selectively interconnects the power amplifiers.
