A system for control of a steering system of a vehicle. The system including an actuator for applying a force or a torque to the steering system. A force or torque can be superimposed on a force or torque originating from the wheels. The system includes a detection unit disposed on the vehicle and configured for anticipatorily detecting at least one surface condition of a surface section located ahead of the vehicle in the direction of vehicle travel and subsequently driven on by the vehicle. The system including a data processing unit disposed on the vehicle and connected to and communicating with the detection unit. The data processing unit configured for generating control signals for controlling an actuator of the steering system based on the detected surface condition.

System and method for controlling a vehicle steering system

In a method according to the disclosure, on the basis of at least one image recorded with a camera that is present on the vehicle, the roadway surface being driven on by the vehicle is classified using a classifier. The classifier is trained on the basis of image features that are extracted from the at least one image, wherein a plurality of image details are defined in the at least one image. The extraction of image features is performed independently for each of these image details.

The disclosure concerns a method for recognizing driving noise in a sound signal that is acquired by a microphone disposed in a vehicle. The sound signal originates from the surface structure of the road. According to the disclosure, a segment of the road lying ahead of the vehicle in the direction of travel is observed with a sensor installed in or on the vehicle. Using the observation data obtained, the start and duration of driving noise originating from the surface structure of the road are predicted.

Method and device for autonomous braking of a vehicle following collision

A method for controlling a vehicle braking system includes commanding vehicle brakes to provide braking torque based on a driver braking request in response to a detected collision and an anticipated application of a driver-actuated brake pedal after the collision. The method additionally includes activating the vehicle brakes in the absence of application of the brake pedal in response to a subsequent application and release of the brake pedal while a motion sensor reading exceeds a predefined threshold.

A wheel bearing unit comprises an inner ring and an outer ring. The outer ring is mounted rotatably and is arranged concentrically with respect to the inner ring. The inner ring serves to receive a wheel and the outer ring serves for fastening to a wheel support of a motor vehicle. The wheel bearing unit has, between the inner ring and the outer ring, a first ball row and a second ball row which is arranged parallel to the first ball row. A follower is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner with respect to an outer side of the inner ring between the first ball row and the second ball row. The follower is connected directly or indirectly to a rotor of an electric machine in a torque-transmitting manner.
