A tear resistant laminated comprised of a paper or paperboard substrate, and adhesive layer, a tear resistant layer secured to the adhesive layer, and a heat-sealable material. The tear resistant material has a a tear strength as measured by the Elmendorf tear propagation test of at least about 300 grams of force in both machine and cross direction.

A two-piece package for housing and dispensing a unit dose product. The product to be dispensed is contained on an internal slide card that is removably and lockably engaged within an outer sleeve. The package sleeve includes an exterior panel having an inner pocket for accommodating an insert. This package may include additional features that provide a child resistant and user-friendly dosing means that can be opened and closed numerous times while in use, then disposed of when the all the unit doses are exhausted.

The preparation of packaging material having good moisture barrier properties from a C1S paperboard substrate in a single pass on a printing press is improved by preheating the substrate before application of the moisture barrier coating to the uncoated surface of the substrate. Preheating the substrate improves coating holdout, reduces pinholes and permits the application of a thin film of coating to achieve the desired result.

Packaging material prepared from a paper or paperboard substrate which includes a layer of moisture barrier material is made resistant to loss of its moisture barrier characteristics when the packaging material is scored and bent during any converting operation by the addition of a layer of flexible primer material located between the paper or paperboard substrate and the moisture barrier layer.
