An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with a phased antenna array that conveys radio-frequency signals using signal beams of first and second orthogonal polarizations. The array may sweep over a set of signal beam pairs, each including a respective combination of signal beams of the first and second polarizations. The wireless circuitry may gather performance metric values for each of the polarizations and signal beam pairs. The circuitry may generate a filtered set of signal beam pairs by removing signal beam pairs having performance metric values that differ from a maximum of the wireless performance metric values by more than a threshold. The circuitry may select a signal beam pair from the filtered set having a minimum polarization imbalance. The array may concurrently convey first and second wireless data streams using the selected signal beam pair. Minimizing polarization imbalance may maximize overall data throughput for the device.

This disclosure relates to techniques for codec selection for voice calls. A wireless device may initiate a voice call and may determine one or more link quality indicators. Based at least in part on the one or more link quality indicators, the wireless device may select a codec for the voice call.

Adaptability in EVS codec to improve power efficiency

A system, station and corresponding methods for providing warning notifications. In one exemplary method, it is determined whether any of a plurality of stations to which a Warning Notification is to transmitted is in a connected state. When it is determined that a first one of the stations is in a connected state, generating, by a broadcaster, a secondary Warning Notification formatted for transmission over a dedicated control channel (DCCH) and transmitting, by the broadcaster, the secondary Warning Notification to the first station over the DCCH. In another exemplary embodiment, a station for receiving emergency notifications is described. The station includes a receiver configured to receive a primary Warning Notification; and a processor which, upon receiving the emergency alert configuration in a format of one of a Paging Type 2 message and an SICI message, despreads a plurality of fingers.

System and method for reception of cell broadcast messages

A method for assisting a wireless communication device to return to a first network from a second network is provided. The method can include the wireless communication device participating in a CSFB procedure to transition from the first network to the second network for servicing of a voice call; receiving a connection release from the second network after termination of the voice call; initiating a reselection procedure to reselect to the first network; determining presence of packet switched data ready for transmission from the wireless communication device before completion of the reselection procedure; holding the packet switched data at the wireless communication device at least until expiry of a reselection timer initiated during the reselection procedure; reselecting to the first network after expiry of the reselection timer; and initiating transmission of the packet switched data on the first network after completing reselection to the first network.

Assisting return to a first network from a second network after performance of a circuit switched fallback procedure

A method of supporting continuation of a data session at a wireless communication device after performance of a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) procedure is provided. The method can include establishing a data session while connected to a first network and determining an initiation of a voice call while the data session is ongoing over the first network. The method can further include participating in a CSFB procedure to transition from the first network to a second network in response to initiation of the voice call. After termination of the voice call, the method can additionally include determining that sufficient resources are not available to the wireless communication device on the second network to support a minimum threshold throughput for the data session. The method can also include reverting to the first network in response to determining that sufficient resources are not available to support the minimum threshold throughput.

Supporting continuation of a data session after performance of a circuit switched fallback procedure

Establishing a circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) call. A request to establish a CSFB call may be received. A first wireless link with a first cell may be released. The first cell may provide packet-switched services but not circuit-switched services. A second wireless link may be established with a second cell. The second cell may provide packet-switched services and circuit-switched services. The CSFB call may be established via the connection to the second cell. Packet-switched registration with the second cell may be performed after the CSFB call is established.
