Methods and systems of generating a data driven digital chart. The methods and systems include retrieving a data driven chart for a requested terminal area procedure chart from a database of data driven charts. The data driven charts describe digital terminal area procedure charts by way of data elements for each terminal area procedure chart including geodetic straights, arcs, text elements and symbols defined with respect to location. Some of the data elements are further defined with respect to altitude values assuming a standard atmospheric temperature value. The systems and methods include calculating compensated altitude values for the data elements of the retrieved data driven chart based on a deviation between the outside air temperature value and the standard atmospheric temperature value. The methods and systems include generating a presentation for a display device of the aircraft of the terminal area procedure chart.

Systems and methods for displaying terminal area procedure charts

An avionics system in an aircraft for providing flight data from an onboard flight management computer (FMC) to requesting applications is disclosed. The system includes a flight management system (FMS) service layer executing on the FMC on a thread separate from a thread that executes FMS core functions. The FMS service layer provides a FMC networked node server for responding to queries from a plurality of external applications for data generated from the FMS core functions without interrupting the FMS core functions. The FMC networked node server is configured to: receive a request from a client application using a server specified API for data elements from a specified input flight plan; retrieve the specified input flight plan from the FMS core functions; extract the requested data elements; and output the requested data elements to the client application without affecting the active thread that executes FMS core functions.

Methods, apparatuses, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for determining a flight plan. An example method includes determining one or more potential flight plans from an originating location to a destination location, each potential flight plan comprising a different combination of one or more flight plan segments forming a potential flight plan from the originating location to the destination location. The method further includes calculating a projected cost for each of the one or more potential flight plans wherein the projected cost is based at least in part on dynamic cost data, dynamic navigation data, or a combination thereof. The method further includes determining an optimal flight plan from among the one or more potential flight plans, the optimal flight plan having a lowest aggregate cost of the calculated projected costs associated with each of the one or more potential flight plans.

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for flight planning for an autonomous aerial vehicle. The systems and methods perform a processor executed process of receiving a request for flight planning and retrieving a model for the structure or the feature of interest from one or more databases. The request identifies a structure or a feature of interest to be surveyed by the autonomous aerial vehicle. The one or more databases include a database including models of terrain, airports and obstacles or a database including models of manufactured articles based on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications or computer aided design (CAD) models. The process includes computing a flight plan that completely surveys the structure or completely surveys the feature of interest based on the retrieved model. The flight plan defines a search pattern with position values. The process includes uplinking the flight plan to the autonomous aerial vehicle.

A method for providing aircraft descent data and approach data onboard an aircraft is provided. The method determines a safe descent area bounded by an outer boundary region, by a processor communicatively coupled to a system memory element, based on an optimum glideslope angle, variable glideslope data, and a continuously monitored boundary exceedance condition; and presents graphical elements associated with the safe descent area, the optimum glideslope angle, and the outer boundary region, by a display device communicatively coupled to the processor.

Methods and systems are provided for monitoring conformance of an aircraft to an actual and predicted 4-dimensional (4D) trajectory with respect to a reference business trajectory (RBT). First, a flight plan for the aircraft is acquired from an onboard flight management system (FMS) computer. A predicted flight trajectory is generated based on the latitude, longitude, altitude, speed and time of the flight plan for the aircraft. An onboard trajectory conformance monitor that is independent of the FMS computer, monitors the present flight trajectory of the aircraft and anticipates any actual or future deviations from the RBT. The trajectory conformance monitor will generate an advisory of any actual or anticipated deviations from the RBT.

A method of operating an augmented reality processed terrain and obstacle threat scouting service is provided. The method includes using at least one sensor of a monitoring vehicle to monitor terrain and obstacle data. The monitored terrain and obstacle data is compared with terrain and obstacle data in a terrain and obstacle database. A non-validated georeferenced delta is determined when the comparison of the monitored terrain and obstacle data with terrain and obstacle data in the terrain and obstacle database finds non-matching terrain and obstacle data. The non-validated georeferenced delta is transmitted to a ground distribution center, consumer vehicle and/or cloud based server. Non-validated georeferenced delta received at a consumer vehicle is differentiated from other terrain and obstacle data on a synthetic vision display. Non-validated georeferenced delta received at a ground distribution center is validated against at least one other source and validated and non-validated is distributed to subscribing consumers.

The method comprises receiving aircraft data from one or more aircraft components; displaying on a user interface the aircraft data and at least one interactive display element associated with an autopilot control function; receiving user input based on an interaction with the at least one interactive display element; and selectively changing an appearance of the at least one interactive display element based on the user input.
