A biodegradable polymeric hydrogel composition including a component A and component B forming a &#x3b2;-aminoester linkage such that the linkage results in gelation, wherein component A is water soluble polymer containing acrylate functionality and component B is a water soluble amine functionality useful for medical applications such as such as drug delivery, tissue engineering, and biomaterials and method of preparation thereof.

A graft copolymer with pH dependent behavior of formula 1 Comprises, (i) a backbone having the formula 1 [ABC] wherein (A) is diol, (B) is dicarboxylic acid or acid anhydride and (C) is monomer containing pendent unsaturation such that (x)=41-45%, (y)=49-53% (z)=4-7% by mole; and (ii) a graft which is a polymer of the basic monomer (D) which comprises 'w' weight percent of the total weight of said graft copolymer such that 'w' is 22-52%. The graft copolymers do not swell/dissolve at neutral and basic pH and swell/dissolve at acidic pH. The polymers are useful as protective coating for pharmaceutical dosage forms and as excipient in the development of extended release drug delivery systems. 

Graft copolymer with pH dependent behaviour

A pH dependent drug delivery system comprising a pH sensitive graft copolymer, a therapeutically active agent and other pharmaceutically acceptable ingredients. More specifically, a composition which is capable of suppressing the drug release in the acidic pH prevalent in the stomach and releasing the drug over an extended period of time at pH prevalent in the intestinal region.

Sustained release composition of therapeutic agent

Graft copolymer (P) which exhibit pH dependent swelling/dissolution properties comprising a hydrophobic back-bone and graft chains comprising acidic monomer. This Graft copolymer (P) do not swell or dissolve at acidic pH prevalent in the stomach and they swell/dissolve at near neutral pH prevalent in the intestinal region. The graft copolymer (P) is useful for the development of drug delivery formulations particularly for oral drug delivery formulations.

PH sensitive graft copolymer

A gastroretentive, extended release composition which floats and swells at acidic pH prevalent in the stomach. The composition includes a pH dependent graft copolymer, a gellable polymer, a therapeutic agent, a gas generating system and pharmaceutically acceptable ingredients. The disclosed composition is useful to deliver the therapeutic agent within the stomach for an extended period of time.

Gastroretentive, extended release composition of therapeutic agent

This invention provides a water-soluble macromonomer having terminal unsaturation obtained by polymerization of monomers in the presence of inclusion complex of chain transfer agent in aqueous system. Hydrophobic chain transfer agent AMSD forms an inclusion complex with methylated cyclodextrin. The complexation enhances its solubility in water and enables the polymerization of water-soluble monomers in aqueous medium. After polymerization cyclodextrin is removed and the macromer with terminal unsaturation obtained can be used further for copolymerization with any vinyl monomer.

Water-soluble macromonomers containing terminal unsaturation and a process for the preparation thereof

The present invention describes the synthesis of solvent soluble copolymers containing multiple unsaturations. These copolymers contain reactive vinyl groups, which can be further reacted in a second stage polymerization. The process involves copolymerization of a vinyl monomer with an inclusion complex of a monomer having multiple unsaturations and a cyclic macromolecular compound to yield soluble polymers. These polymers may be cast into films, membranes or may be converted in micro or nanoparticles and then crosslinked in a second step polymerization.

Soluble polymers comprising unsaturation and process for preparation thereof

The present invention describes water-soluble homopolymers obtained by polymerization of monomers containing multiple unsaturations. These monomers form inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins and methylated cyclodextrins. The unsaturated site involved in the formation of the inclusion complex does not take part in the polymerization reaction. After cyclodextrin is recovered, the polymer containing multiple unsaturations can be further polymerized either by thermal and/or photochemical initiators to yield crosslinked polymers.

The present invention relates a novel pH sensitive polymer which exhibits pH dependant swelling/dissolution behavior. The composition is useful for taste masking of bitter drugs and also for the gastric delivery of the drugs. The said polymer comprises a hydrophobic monomer polymerized along with a basic monomer or a hydrophobic monomer polymerized along with a basic monomer and a hydrophilic monomer.

The present invention provides novel thermoprecipitating polymers of formula 1 containing novel enzyme sensitive ligands of the formula 4, processes for the preparation thereof respectively, and to the use thereof for the separation of enzymes. The present invention discloses compositions, comprising a lipid-polymer matrix to mask the bitter or unpleasant taste of the medicament. The lipid or a blend of lipids, are used in combination with the pH dependent polymer where the said polymer is acid soluble or swellable The process for the preparation of taste masked pharmaceutical compositions of the bitter drugs comprising the said lipid-polymer compositions are disclosed. The concomitant use of the acid soluble polymer, which remains collapsed at the pH of saliva, inhibits the release of drug at that pH and hence they further help in bitterness inhibition. The said compositions deliver substantial amount of the bitter drug immediately at the gastric pH with improved palatability.

Pharmaceutical composition for improving palatability of drugs and process for preparation thereof

The present invention discloses coating compositions with taste masking property, comprising a blend of pH sensitive polymers and optionally a pH independent polymer or a blend of the pH sensitive polymer and pH independent polymer used for taste masking of highly bitter drugs. The pH sensitive polymers used comprise the acid soluble polymers and the enteric polymers. The process for the preparation of taste masked pharmaceutical compositions of the bitter drugs comprising the said coating compositions is disclosed. The concomitant use of the polymers inhibits the release of the bitter drug at the pH of saliva. The said coating compositions deliver substantial amount of the bitter drug immediately with improved palatability.

The present invention discloses a substantially amorphous pharmaceutical composition comprising a drug that can exist in a variety of polymorphic forms and a pH sensitive polymer, which inhibits the crystallization of the drug during formulation and reconstitution. Polymers of higher molecular weight are more effective at lower loading, especially when the drug polymer matrix is prepared by the solvent evaporation or solvent extraction technique. The compositions used as dry syrups maintain bioavailability of the drug and effectively mask the taste of the drug when the composition is reconstituted.

The present invention relates to block copolymers for applications in medicine and biotechnology and synthesis thereof. Block copolymers comprise polyvalent N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) which bind more efficiently to lysozyme than NAG itself. The effective inhibition is possible even at very low ligand concentrations than reported earlier. The block copolymers could be used for prevention and treatment of bacterial and viral infections. Moreover these polymers can be stimuli sensitive and be used for the recovery of biomolecules. The methodology of preparation of block copolymers reported here can be extended to other polymers and ligands such as sialic acid and used for preventing influenza and/or rotavirus infections. It also provides a method for preparation of block copolymers wherein polymers comprising sequences of specific ligands are essential.
