Subsea produced non-sales fluid handling system and method

The present techniques are directed to a pipeline transporting a production fluid including hydrocarbon. An optical fiber is disposed along a length of the pipeline. A control system determines a predicted operating temperature based on pressure and flow rate of the production fluid in the pipeline. The control system determines a measured temperature along the pipeline using the optical fiber. The control system detects and locates a temperature anomaly by comparing the measured temperature of the pipeline to the predicted operating temperature.

The present techniques are directed to systems and methods for forming a pipe-conforming structure. The pipe-conforming structure includes a polymer material and one or more optic fibers embedded within the polymer material. The polymer material is formed into a structure that is conformed to the shape of a pipe. A method includes forming a polymer material into a structure including an edge region and a center region. The center region has a greater thickness than the edge region. The method includes inserting one or more optic fibers into the polymer material.

Pipe-conforming structure

System and method for detecting a leak in a pipeline with a sensing cable including an optical fiber sensor array aligned with a heating element. At least one heat pulse is propagated through the heating element along at least a portion of the sensing cable to affect an exchange of thermal energy between the heating element and fluid exposed to the sensing cable. A temperature profile of the sensing cable corresponding to the heat pulse at each of a plurality of sensor locations on the optical fiber sensor array is measured over time. A leak in a pipeline is detected by determining one or more properties of the fluid exposed to the sensing cable at each of the plurality of sensor locations based on the temperature profile corresponding thereto.

Method and system for detecting a leak in a pipeline

A pipeline monitoring system and systems and methods of producing the same. A system for producing a liner for a pipe can comprise a source of material to form a body of the liner and a source of material to form a monitoring sensor in the liner. The system may further comprise a device that receives the material to form the body of the liner and the material to form the monitoring sensor in the liner and produces the body of the liner with the monitoring sensor embedded within the body of the liner.
