The present invention relates to a two-part container containing an outer container and an inner container for use in containing skin care compositions.

A skin care composition comprising an oil-in-water emulsion and a therapeutically effective amount of a retinoid selected from the group consisting of Vitamin A alcohol, Vitamin A aldehyde, retinyl acetate, retinyl palmitate and mixtures thereof, the composition having a pH of between about 4 and about 10 and further comprising an oil phase comprising one or more oils having a total unsaturation density, or C value, of about 1200 or less.

Skin care composition comprising a retinoid

Skin care compositions comprising an oil-in-water emulsion base containing retinoids and possessing good physical and chemical stability. More particularly, said skin care compositions contain (a) an emulsifier system selected from the group consisting of: (i) a mixture of glyceryl stearate and polyethylene glycol 100 stearate; (ii) cetearyl alcohol and cetearyl glucoside; (iii) a mixture of a polyethylene glycol ethers of stearyl alcohol; and (iv) a mixture of sorbitan stearate and polysorbate 60; (b) a co-emulsifier selected from the group consisting of cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and mixtures thereof; (c) an oil phase present in the amount of from about 5 to about 20 percent by weight of the total emulsion composition which contains (i) a light, dry absorbable oil and (ii) substantive, emollient oils or waxes, wherein the light, dry absorbable oil and the substantive oil or wax are present in a ratio of from about 1:3 for about 10:1.

A shampoo that contains ketoconazole, a surfactant, a foaming agent, thickener sufficient to give the final formulation a viscosity in the range of about 4,000 to about 9,000 cps at room temperature (i.e., about 20.degree.-25.degree. C.), preservative, butylated hydroxytoluene or butylated hydroxyanisole in an amount sufficient to retard degradation of the ketoconazole, and acid, base or buffer sufficient to give the final composition a pH in the range of from about 4 to about 10.
