Media streaming to a phone, tablet or other mobile device is improved by adapting requests for content in anticipation of the device's future location. If a device is expected to pass through an area with poor wireless signal quality, then requests for media content can be pre-emptively obtained beforehand at places and times where the available bandwidth is more favorable. Further, requests for content may be delayed during lower bandwidth conditions if the device is expected to soon encounter more bandwidth. Content requests can be therefore optimized (or at least improved) based upon the expected bandwidth that will be encountered during the anticipated upcoming movement of the device.

Embodiments are related to processing of one or more input audio feeds for generation of a target audio stream that includes at least one object of interest to a listener. In some embodiments, the target audio stream may exclusively or primarily include the sound of the object of interest to the listener, without including other persons. If an additional channel change request is received within the wait period, the client media receiver repeats the step of monitoring. Conversely, if an additional channel change request is not received with the wait period, the client media receiver sends a channel reprioritization command to the streaming media server to prioritize the second streaming channel over the first streaming channel in continued transmission of the streaming channel bundle.

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for assisting user selection of media content viewed utilizing a media receiver. In an embodiment, the method includes the step or process of establishing whether high interest media content is currently displayed via the media receiver. If high interest media content is currently displayed via the media receiver, it is determined when user input is received causing the media receiver to display other media content following commencement of an advertisement set disrupting viewing of the high interest media content. When so determined, the media receiver then monitors for cessation of the advertisement set. If the media receiver does not resume display of the high interest media content prior to cessation of the advertisement set, the media receiver further performs at least one specified action in response to cessation of the advertisement set.

Devices, systems, and methods for selecting media content based on advertisement detection

Embodiments are directed towards presenting text along with video content to a user at a speed specific for that user. Various features regarding the user and the text, such as how fast the user can read, the user's native language, the language of the text, user speed selection, user profile information, or other characteristics of the user or text, are determined and utilized to select a speed at which to display text to the user. The text is then presented along with the video content such that the text moves on the screen at the selected speed.

An initial timeline value of the content may be determined, along with an initial presentation timestamp value for the first frame of the content. For each next frame of the content, a next timeline value may be determined based on a difference between a next presentation timestamp value for a corresponding next frame and the initial presentation timestamp value, and mapping of the next presentation timestamp value for the corresponding next frame and the next timeline value in the index file. The content and a progress bar may be displayed to the user on a remote device based on the index file. A position of the current-playing-position marker on the progress bar for each frame of the content may be determined based on the next timeline value for each corresponding frame.

Systems and methods for providing a video electronic programming guide ('video EPG') may include outputting a primary program for display on a display screen, receiving a command to activate the video EPG, and in response to receiving the command, outputting a plurality of widgets for display on a display screen. Each of the plurality of widgets may represent a category of broadcast programs. Systems and methods may include receiving a widget selection for one of the plurality of widgets and outputting a video menu corresponding to the selected widget for display on the display screen. The video menu includes a plurality of video scenes, whereby each of the plurality of video scenes represents a broadcast program categorized in the selected widget. Systems and methods may include receiving a program selection for one of the plurality of video scenes.
