An apparatus has a first communication module that is compatible with a first wireless communication technology, and a second communication module that is compatible with a second, different, wireless communication technology. Transmissions by each communication module may contribute to interference at the other communication module. In one example, a Block Acknowledgement Request is transmitted by the apparatus during a downlink period of the second communication module so that the Block Acknowledgement transmitted in response is received during the downlink period. In another example, the apparatus calculates a maximum size of A-MPDU to receive and notifies an access point of that maximum size. In a further example, the apparatus, having notified an access point of operation in a power save mode, polls the access point for buffered frames at the start of a downlink period of the second communication module.

Mitigating interference between co-located wireless technologies

A server-implemented method for automatically registering an asset tag in a database is disclosed. One or more asset tag collision reports are received from at least one mobile device connected to the server, each report including a tag identifier of the asset tag that is wirelessly broadcast by the asset tag. A location of the asset tag is determined based on the one or more received asset tag collision reports. A first asset is selected from a set of unregistered assets that are identified as being deployed in the indoor facility based on determining that there is a match between the location of the asset tag and location information associated with the first asset. The asset tag is then registered in association with the first asset in the database.

Automatic registration of asset tags based on crowd sourcing asset context

A method, for wireless transmission of real-time media from a source to a sink over a wireless transmission channel is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises encoding media as a plurality of sets of frames, wherein each set of frames includes a key-frame, wherein the media is encoded for the wireless transmission such that a time-required for transmission of the key-frame of each set of frames is less than or equal to a time-allocation for the wireless transmission; and wirelessly transmitting the media from the source device to the sink device.

Wireless transmission of real-time media

A device and method for antenna alignment using vibrational positioning are provided. The device comprises: a controller; a vibrating device; and an antenna. The controller configured monitors a data quality parameter of the antenna. When the data quality parameter meets a first threshold condition, the controller activates the vibrating device. When a second threshold condition is met, after the vibrating device is activated, the controller deactivates the vibrating device. Activation of the vibrating device can cause the device to vibrate to move the device into a minimum energy position on a docking station to align the antenna with a respective antenna of the docking station. The docking station can comprise a wireless charging pad and the alignment of the antenna (e.g. a loop antenna and the like) with the respective antenna of the docking station can assist with charging efficiency of a battery of the device.

For a computing device that employs a touch-sensitive keyboard, authentication may involve illustrating, to the electronic device, knowledge of a stored secret though providing input, at least in part, via the touch-sensitive keyboard. The input may be in the form of swipes alone or in combination with key actuations. Furthermore, the swipes and key actuations may be associated with a particular region of the touch-sensitive keyboard.

Methods and devices for wirelessly transmitting content from a source device to a sink device are disclosed. The method comprises: identifying one or more data types associated with a display frame displayed on the source device; selecting a transmission format for the display frame in accordance with the one or more identified data types, wherein the transmission format is selected from the group consisting of screencasting, graphics processing unit (GPU) processing, or GPU processing with media streaming; and sending visual information representing the display frame in the transmission selected transmission format to the sink device. One or a combination of latency, image/video quality, and power consumption associated with the wireless transmission may be used to adapt the wireless transmission.

Method for wirelessly transmitting content from a source device to a sink device

A docking station for electronic devices is disclosed. The docking station includes: a housing defining a docking area for receiving an electronic device; a vibrator for generating vibrations, the vibrator being positioned in the docking station such that vibrations generated by the vibrator are transmitted to at least a part of the electronic device when the electronic device is docked in the docking area; and a controller coupled to the vibrator, the controller being configured to: detect that the electronic device is docked in the docking area; and in response to detecting that the electronic device is docked in the docking area, cause the vibrator to generate vibrations corresponding to a signal representing an identifier of the docking station.

Application of modulated vibrations in docking scenarios

A system and method for short-range wireless peer-to-peer file sharing is provided. A consolidated catalog of accessible files stored both locally and remotely is sent by a first computing device to a peer computing device over a short-range wireless communications link. The first device receives a request from the peer device to retrieve a selected file. When this selected file is determined to be remotely stored, the first device obtains authentication credentials sufficient to permit access by the peer device to the selected file stored remotely at another device, and sends the authentication credentials to the peer device over the short range wireless communications link so that the peer device can directly retrieve the selected file from the other device using the authentication credentials.

A method for encoding real-time media for wireless transmission from a source device to a sink device over a wireless transmission channel is disclosed. The method comprises encoding media for the wireless transmission based on a minimum of (i) an available bandwidth between the source device and the sink device for the wireless transmission based on a time allocation of the source device for wireless transmission or (ii) a throughput constraint for the wireless transmission based on a hardware limitation associated with one or both of the source device and the sink device; and wirelessly transmit the encoded media from the source device to the sink device.

A device in a peer-to-peer (P2P) group has the role of group owner. A different device in the P2P group may take on the role of group owner without ending the P2P group and create a new P2P group. Multiple P2P groups may be merged into a single P2P group. A single P2P group may be split into multiple independent P2P groups, each with its own group owner. A group owner of a P2P group may notify the client devices in the P2P group that it is about to leave the P2P group. A client device in a P2P group may be appointed in a new role of backup group owner, to take on the role of group owner in the event of a departure of the group owner, thereby providing continuity. Techniques for maintaining upper layer continuity through changes in topology of P2P groups are disclosed.

A method of communicating using first and second radio frequency (RF) transceiver modules of a communication device involves reserving selected timeslots for a wireless communication link of a first RF transceiver module; communicating data via the second RF transceiver module during the selected reserved timeslots; and simultaneously communicating data via the first RF transceiver module during remaining unreserved timeslots of the wireless communication link.

A channel sharing method includes determining a starting time for transmission on an LAA-LTE channel. A length of a hybrid preamble is determined based on the starting time and a predetermined transmission time boundary. Subsequent to determining the length of the hybrid preamble, the hybrid preamble having the determined length is transmitted.
