An on-body sensing system () comprises a plurality of skin interface elements for coupling electrical signals to and from the body. The system is adapted to derive an indication of a position of at least one positionable interface unit () based on transmission of signals between the positionable unit and a set of spatially separated reference units (), the reference units being positioned at a set of known locations on the body. Transmitted signals are sensed at multiple pairs () of electrodes on each reference unit and signal characteristics derived for each pair, and based on this a direction of arrival of the signal determined. By collating all of the measured arrival angles, and by reference to a reference dataset containing information indicative of known signal arrival angles when signals are transmitted internally between the reference units themselves, an indication of position of the positionable unit is derived.

On-body sensor system and method

Disclosed is a vital sign monitoring system. The system comprises a segmented electrode forming an in-plane electrode array, wherein the electrode comprise a skin contacting skin adhering contact layer mounted on an electrode backing material, a deformation sensor arranged for identifying deformation information of the electrode, a signal processor arranged to receive a vital sign signal from the electrode and process the deformation information to remove artefacts from the vital sign signal, wherein the electrode comprises multiple electrode segments and wherein the signal processor is arranged to select that electrode segment that has a lowest deformation of all electrode segments of the electrode.

Device, method and computer program product for continuous monitoring of vital signs

A method of preventing or suppressing a false alarm during administration of food or medicine to a human or animal through a feeding tube having one or more sensors that generate a signal, comprises analyzing the signals to determine whether food or medicine is being administered and, if it is determined that food or medicine is present, preventing or suppressing an alarm. In a further step, the time and length of administration of food or medicine is recorded. When the feeding tube has at least two temperature sensors, differences in the temperatures recorded for the different temperature sensors indicate that food or medicine was administered. In a case where there is only one temperature sensor, the rate and extent of any temperature change of temperatures recorded from that temperature sensor are compared to an algorithm to determine whether feeding occurred. If the feeding tube has two or more electrodes that sense a change in impedance (galvanic or non-galvanic), that change indicates whether food or medicine is being administered. The signals are analyzed by a processor, monitor, or controller that generates an alarm signal.

The capturing unit captures at least one image of the user over a predetermined time period, and the obtaining unit obtains motion-related information of the user over the predetermined time period. The deriving unit derives visual information from the at least one image on the basis of the motion-related information, and the determining unit determines the skin color on the basis of the derived visual information. In this way, the skin color of the user can be effectively monitored without exposing the user to strong environmental light.

Method and system for monitoring the skin color of a user

The invention relates to a capacitive sensing apparatus for sensing an object, wherein the capacitive sensing apparatus comprises a capacitive sensor () for capacitively sensing the object () and an enclosure () for enclosing the capacitive sensor (). Capacitive sensing apparatus

A capacitive sensing system () which includes an electrical charge providing unit () like an electret foil for providing a permanent electrical charge at a sensing site () of the object () and a capacitive sensor () including a sensing electrode () for generating a sensing signal by capacitively sensing the object () at the sensing site () of the object (). By providing a permanent electrical charge at the sensing site () of the object (), the bias between the object () and the sensing electrode () of the capacitive sensor () is intentionally preferentially made large, thereby increasing the sensitivity towards mechanical motions. The resulting sensing signal substantially caused by these mechanical motions between the object () and the sensing electrode () is generally larger than a signal generated substantially by an electrophysiological field.

Capacitive sensing system

The invention relates to a system and a method in which an electrophysiological signal is sensed capacitively with at least two closely spaced electrodes such that the electrodes experience strongly correlated skin-electrode distance variations. To be able to derive a motion artifact signal, the capacitive coupling between the electrodes and skin is made intentionally different. With a signal processing means the motion artifact signal can be removed from the measured signal to leave only the desired electrophysiological signal. Since the measured quantity is dependant on the electrode-skin distance itself, the system and method do not need to rely on the constancy of a transfer function. Hereby, they give reliable motion artifact free output signals.

Compensation of motion artifacts in capacitive measurement of electrophysiological signals

A wobble signal is generated from at least two elementary signals (A,B,C,D) detected by scanning a wobbled track of a data carrier. The invention proposes a solution for eliminating the noise of various origins in the wobble signal, notably the high frequency data leakage into the wobble signal due to radial asymmetry introduced in the diffraction pattern on the detector, whatever the reason for this radial asymmetry. According to the invention, the at least two elementary signals are filtered with at least an adaptive filter (), and said filtered elementary signals are subtracted () from said wobble signal (PP) thereby generating an improved wobble signal.
