An apparatus of user equipment (UE) includes a radio integrated circuit (IC), an adjustable external low noise amplifier (eLNA) external to the radio IC, and processing circuitry. The radio IC includes a receive signal circuit path including an adjustable gain internal low noise amplifier (iLNA), and a transmit signal circuit path including a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) circuit configured to convert digital signals to analog baseband signals for transmitting. The processing circuitry is configured to provide digital values of the digital signals to the DAC circuit and initiate adjusting gain of one or both of the iLNA and the eLNA according to the digital values.

Detecting high TX leakage to improve linearity

A wireless communication device can include an antenna array configured to receive a plurality of radio frequency (RF) signals, RF circuitry, and digital baseband receive circuitry. The RF circuitry is configured to process the plurality of RF signals received via the antenna array to generate a single RF signal. The digital baseband receive circuitry is coupled to the RF circuitry and is configured to generate a downconverted signal based on the single RF signal, amplify the downconverted signal to generate an amplified downconverted signal, and convert the amplified downconverted signal to generate a digital output signal for processing by a wireless modem. The digital baseband receive circuitry further includes at least a first filtering system configured to filter the downconverted signal prior to amplification.

High-performance receiver architecture

A wireless communication device can include an antenna configured to sense a radio frequency (RF) signal. The wireless communication device can include signal estimation circuitry configured to generate estimates of amplitude and frequency for unmodulated spurs within the RF signal. The wireless communication device can further include multi-tone generator circuitry coupled to the signal estimation circuitry and configured to generate a composite spur cancellation signal based on the estimates of amplitude and frequency for unmodulated spurs within the RF signal. The wireless communication device can further include adder circuitry configured to subtract the spur cancellation signal from the RF signal to generate a spur cancelled signal.

Noise reduction and spur and distortion cancellation techniques

A user equipment (UE), receiver and method are generally described herein. The UE may include a mixer, a local oscillator (LO) and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The mixer may downconvert a differential radio frequency (RF) signal using LO signals and provide downconverted signals to the ADC. The mixer may provide decoupled lowpass filtering. The lowpass filter capacitors may retain charge when discharging is completed. For each differential signal, the mixer may have an input pullup resistor, first switches receiving the signal and driven by different LO signals, second switches receiving signals from the first switches such that connected pairs of switches may have driven by different LO signals, an ADC input resistor, charging capacitors each connected between first switches driven by the same LO signal, and grounding capacitors each connected to second switches associated with different RF signal outputs and driven by different LO signals.

High performance receiver architecture and methods thereof

A transconductance amplifier having an input terminal for receiving an input signal and an output terminal for communicating an output signal based on the input signal, the transconductance amplifier may include a gain transistor and a variable capacitance. The gain transistor may have a gate terminal, a first non-gate terminal, and a second non-gate terminal, the first non-gate terminal coupled to the output terminal of the transconductance amplifier. The variable capacitance may be coupled between the gate terminal of the gain transistor and the second non-gate terminal of the gain transistor.

Broadband transconductance amplifier

A method may include reconfigurably enabling one of a first downconverter and a second converter and disabling the other the second downconverter, wherein the first downconverter and the second downconverter are integral to a receiver unit of as wireless communications terminal. The method may also include frequency downconverting received wireless communication signals by the enabled downconverter. The method may also include processing the downconverted wireless communication signals by a primary path if the first downconverter is enabled, and processing the downconverted wireless communication signals by a diversity path if the second downconverter is enabled.
