The disclosure relates to iron-doped potassium titanate nanotube catalysts, and methods of making and using such catalysts. The catalysts can be used in the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide (CO) for the production of light olefins.

Iron-doped potassium-titanate nanotube catalysts and methods of making and using same

Methods for cracking a hydrocarbon feed stream include contacting a hydrocarbon feed stream with a catalyst system in a catalytic cracking unit having a flowing gas stream to obtain a cracking product containing light olefins. The catalyst system includes at least a base catalyst. The base catalyst includes a pentasil zeolite. The pentasil zeolite includes from 0.01% to 5% by mass lithium atoms, as calculated on an oxide basis, based on the total mass of the pentasil zeolite. The flowing gas stream comprises hydrogen and, optionally, at least one additional carrier gas.

Lithium-modified zeolite catalyst for alkane cracking

A catalyst for dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons includes a support including zirconium oxide and Linde type L zeolite (L-zeolite). A concentration of the zirconium oxide in the catalyst is in a range of from 0.1 weight percent (wt. %) to 20 wt. %. The catalyst includes from 5 wt. % to 15 wt. % of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. The catalyst includes from 0.1 wt. % to 10 wt. % of tin. The catalyst includes from 0.1 wt. % to 8 wt. % of a platinum group metal. The alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, tin, and platinum group metal are disposed on the support.

Catalytic hydrocarbon dehydrogenation

Systems and methods of enhancing oil recovery with an electrochemical apparatus include introducing the electrochemical apparatus into an injection well bore. The electrochemical apparatus includes an anode, a cathode and an interior wall, the interior wall defining an interior that contains both the anode and the cathode. The electrochemical apparatus is operated such that injection water of the injection well bore is introduced into the interior of the electrochemical apparatus. Electrical power is introduced to the electrochemical apparatus such that a portion of the injection water is converted into a product gas, the product gas including hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The electrochemical apparatus is operated such that the product gas forms product gas bubbles and the product gas bubbles travel into a formation, where the product gas bubbles react with a reservoir hydrocarbon of the formation to form a production fluid that is produced through a production well bore.

Hydrogen production by downhole electrolysis of reservoir brine for enhanced oil recovery

A catalyst for dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons includes a support including zirconium oxide and alumina. A concentration of the zirconium oxide in the catalyst is in a range of from 1 weight percent (wt. %) to 20 wt. %. The catalyst includes from 0.01 wt. % to 2 wt. % of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. The catalyst includes from 1 wt. % to 2 wt. % of tin. The catalyst includes from 0.1 wt. % to 2 wt. % of a platinum group metal. The alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, tin, and platinum group metal are disposed on the support.

Olefins may be produced from C-Csaturated hydrocarbons by systems and methods comprising passing a feed comprising C-Csaturated hydrocarbons and hydrogen into a dehydrogenation unit to produce a dehydrogenation effluent, passing at least a portion of the dehydrogenation effluent into a hydrogenation unit to produce a hydrogenation effluent, and passing at least a portion of the hydrogenation effluent into a cracking unit to produce a cracking effluent comprising olefins. The dehydrogenation unit includes a dehydrogenation catalyst, the hydrogenation unit includes a hydrogenation catalyst, and the cracking unit includes a cracking catalyst.

A process for removing asphaltenes from an oil feed comprising the steps of introducing the oil feed to a reactor, where the oil feed comprises a carbonaceous material and asphaltenes, introducing a heteropolyacid feed to the reactor, where the heteropolyacid feed comprises a heteropolyacid, operating the reactor at a reaction temperature and a reaction pressure for a reaction time such that the heteropolyacid is operable to catalyze an acid catalyzed polymerization reaction of the asphaltenes to produce polymerized asphaltenes, where a mixed product comprises the polymerized asphaltenes and a de-asphalted oil, introducing the mixed product to a separator at the end of the reaction time, and separating the mixed product in the separator to produce a de-asphalted oil and a waste stream, where the de-asphalted oil has a lower concentration of sulfur, a lower concentration of nitrogen, and a lower concentration of metals as compared to the oil feed.

According to one or more embodiments presently disclosed, one or more reactant hydrocarbons may be dehydrogenated by a method that includes contacting the one or more reactant hydrocarbons with a catalyst system to dehydrogenate at least a portion of the reactant hydrocarbons. The catalyst system may include a zincosilicate support material that includes an MFI framework type structure incorporating at least silicon and zinc. The catalyst system may further include one or more alkali or alkaline earth metals, and one or more platinum group metals.

Methods for dehydrogenating reactant hydrocarbons

A method for producing mesophase pitch includes the steps of flushing a vessel with an at least substantially inert gas to remove air and oxygen from the vessel; charging the vessel with a hydrocarbon feed; pressurizing the vessel to an initial increased pressure; heating the vessel to a pre-determined temperature; and maintaining the vessel at the pre-determined temperature for an amount of time operable to upgrade the hydrocarbon feed to a product comprising mesophase pitch.
