A process for upgrading a hydrocarbon feed comprises contacting the hydrocarbon feed with steam in the presence of a cracking catalyst composition at reaction conditions sufficient to cause at least a portion of hydrocarbons in the hydrocarbon feed to undergo one or more cracking reactions to produce a steam catalytic cracking effluent comprising light olefins, light aromatic compounds, or both, where the cracking catalyst composition comprises a cracking additive comprising metal species impregnated on a ZSM-5 zeolite, where the metal species comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, vanadium, iron, platinum, molybdenum, cerium, and nickel.

Modified ZSM-5 for steam enhanced catalytic cracking of crude oil to light olefins and aromatics

A process for converting a hydrocarbon feed may comprise contacting a hydrocarbon feed with steam in the presence of a cracking catalyst under steam enhanced catalytic cracking conditions. The contacting the hydrocarbon feed with the steam in the presence of the cracking catalyst may cause at least a portion of the hydrocarbon feed to undergo steam catalytic cracking reactions to produce a cracked effluent comprising Cto Colefins, Cto Caromatic compounds, or both. The cracking catalyst may be a nanoparticle comprising: a core and a shell. The core may comprise one or more ZSM-5 zeolite particles and have an outer surface. The shell may comprise a plurality of fibers extending radially outward from the outer surface of the core. The plurality of fibers may comprise silica.

Processes for direct conversion of crude oil to light olefins and light aromatics through steam enhanced catalytic cracking over a core shell cracking catalyst

Provided here are zirconium-substituted hierarchical zeolite compositions and methods of preparing such catalytic compositions. One such method involves subjecting the zirconium-substituted zeolite to a framework modification process using a single template to produce a framework-modified zeolite, followed by subjecting the framework-modified zeolite to an ion exchange process to produce a hierarchical zeolite composition. Also provided are methods of catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon feedstocks using these zirconium-substituted hierarchical zeolite compositions.

Methods for synthesizing hierarchical zeolites for catalytic cracking

The invention pertains to a zeolite catalyst, methods of making same, and its use in the catalytic cracking of naphtha for the production of lower molecular weight olefins and alkanes, while minimizing production less desirable products. A zeolite is modified by base leaching and by the addition of a metal cation, thereby lowering the Si/Alratio and improving the stability of the formed catalyst.

Modified zeolite catalyst and methods for producing and using same

Embodiments of the invention provide a method for the fluid catalytic cracking of a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock. According to at least one embodiment, the method includes supplying the heavy hydrocarbon feedstock to a reaction zone having a catalyst, such that both the heavy hydrocarbon feedstock and the catalyst are in contact in a down-flow mode, wherein said contact between the heavy hydrocarbon feedstock and the catalyst takes place in a fluidized catalytic cracking apparatus having a separation zone, a stripping zone, and a regeneration zone. The method further includes maintaining the reaction zone at a temperature of between 500 and 600&#xb0; C., such that the hydrocarbon feedstock converts into a cracked hydrocarbon effluent comprising light olefins, gasoline, and diesel. The catalyst includes between 10 and 20% by weight of a phosphorous modified sub-micron ZSM-5, between 10 and 20% by weight of an ultra-stable Y-type zeolite, between 20 and 30% by weight of a pseudoboehmite alumina, and between 20 and 40% by weight of kaolin. The phosphorous modified sub-micron ZSM-5 has an average crystal size between 50 and 400 nm, inclusive, and a silica to alumina ratio of 1:2 to 1:4, inclusive.

Method for the fluidized catalytic cracking of a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock

The present invention concerns a novel additive composition for reducing sulfur content of a catalytically cracked gasoline fraction. This additive composition comprises a support consisting of porous clay into which a first metal from group IVB is incorporated and a second metal from group IIB is impregnated. Preferably, the first incorporated metal is zirconium and the second impregnated metal is zinc. The sulfur reduction additive is used in the form of a separate particle in combination with a conventional cracking catalyst in a fluidized catalytic cracking process to convert hydrocarbon feed stocks into gasoline having comparatively lower sulfur content and other liquid products.

Catalyst additive for reduction of sulfur in catalytically cracked gasoline

A fluid catalytic cracking catalyst for increased production of propylene and gasoline from heavy hydrocarbon feedstock, the catalyst comprising between 10 and 20% by weight of an ultra-stable Y-type zeolite, between 10 and 20% by weight of a phosphorous modified sub-micron ZSM-5, between 20 and 30% by weight of a pseudoboehmite alumina, and between 30 and 40% by weight kaolin.

Catalyst for enhanced propylene in fluidized catalytic cracking

Compositions and processed for their use as additives for reducing the sulfur content of FCC gasoline employ a support material having deposited on its surface (a) a first metal component from Group IIB of the Periodic Table and (b) a second metal component from Group III or Group IV of the Periodic Table. The additive composition is preferably made of a montmorillonite clay support containing zinc and gallium, zinc and zirconium. Alternatively, the additive composition includes support material having deposited on its surface a metal component from Group III of the Periodic Table, preferably a montmorillonite clay support containing gallium. Compositions and processes for their use as additives for reducing the sulfur content of FCC gasoline employ a support material montmorillonite clay material. A fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) mixture, therefore, is provided comprising an FCC catalyst and separate particles of sulfur reduction additive consisting of porous montmorillonite clay.
