A method of sending measurement information from a user equipment includes: measuring a reference signal: producing a measurement report payload based on measurement of the reference signal: encoding the measurement report pay load in accordance with ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One) encoding, and in accordance with a lower-layer protocol to produce an encoded payload, the lower-layer protocol being either a physical-layer protocol or a MAC-layer (Medium Access Control layer) protocol; and sending a lower-layer message based on the encoded pay load from the user equipment to a network entity.

Low-layer positioning measurement reporting

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning. A method of wireless communication includes receiving a tag device indicator that indicates a tag capability of a tag device. The method also includes generating a tag configuration associated with transmission of a backscatter signal based on a positioning reference signal (PRS). The tag configuration indicates a frequency shifting parameter based on a frequency shifting capability of a tag device, a phase scrambling parameter based on a phase scrambling capability of the tag device, or a combination thereof. The method further includes transmitting the tag configuration.

In an aspect, a position estimation entity, obtains first timing information that is associated with a first time-of-arrival (TOA) measurement of a first reference signal for positioning (RS-P) as communicated between a target user equipment (UE) and a base station with a first time basis, obtains second timing information that is associated with a second TOA measurement of a second RS-P as communicated between the target UE and a reference UE associated with a known location and having a second time basis that is different than the first time basis, determines a bias between the first time basis and the second time basis, and determines a position estimate of the target UE via a time differential of arrival (TDOA) positioning technique based at least in part upon the first timing information, the second timing information, and the bias.

Position estimation based on time bias between base station and reference user equipment

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support enhanced positioning operations using a repeater. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by the UE, an instruction from a base station (BS) to perform a first signal measurement at a first time and a second signal measurement at a second time; determining, by the UE and based on the instruction, a first signal characteristic of a first signal during the first time corresponding to a time when a first repeater is repeating the first signal from a base station; determining, by the UE and based on the instruction, a second signal characteristic of a second signal during the second time corresponding to a time when the first repeater is not repeating the second signal; and a location of the UE is determined based on the first signal characteristic and the second signal characteristic.

Positioning with a simple repeater

Methods and apparatus for predicting wireless measurements based on virtual access points is described. In some embodiments, a location of a user equipment (UE) may be obtained, and given the location of the UE, an output may be generated using a machine learning model, the output including one or more predicted wireless measurements. The output may be indicative of a wireless channel in a multipath environment. In some variants, the machine learning model may have been trained by obtaining a training dataset including multipath components data and ground truth locations of a wireless device, and performing an optimization with respect to the multipath components data and the ground truth locations. In some implementations, a training output including a predicted multipath component may be produced during the training, and the optimization may include an iterative minimization of an error between at least the predicted multipath component and a labeled multipath component.

Predicting wireless measurements based on virtual access points

In an aspect, a position estimation entity (e.g., UE, gNB, LMF, etc.) identifies a pool of UEs for a SL-assisted position estimation procedure of a set of target UEs. SL SRS-Ps are communicated (e.g., transmitted and measured) between the pool of UEs (e.g., for relative SL ranging). UL SRS-Ps are communicated by at least some of the UEs in the pool of UEs. The position estimation entity obtains measurement data for both the SL SRS-P and UL-SRS-P communications. The position estimation entity determines a position estimate for each UE in the set of UEs based on the measurement information.

Sidelink-assisted position estimation procedure

Techniques for location determination of user equipment (UE) are provided. In an aspect, a position estimation entity (e.g., UE, gNB, LMF, etc.) identifies a pool of UEs for a SL-assisted position estimation procedure of a set of target UEs. SL SRS-Ps are communicated (e.g., transmitted and measured) between the pool of UEs (e.g., for relative SL ranging). UL SRS-Ps are communicated by at least some of the UEs in the pool of UEs. The position estimation entity obtains measurement data for both the SL SRS-P and UL-SRS-P communications. The position estimation entity determines a position estimate for each UE in the set of UEs based on the measurement information.

A user equipment includes a processor configured to: receive a first, second, and third reference signals including a first, second, and third sets of tones, and spanning first, second, and third frequency ranges in first and second sets of symbols and at least one third symbol, respectively, the first and second frequency ranges differing; where at least one of (1) the third frequency range overlaps the first frequency range, or (2) the at least one third symbol overlaps with the first set of symbols and the third frequency range overlaps the second frequency range; determine an offset between the first reference signal and the supplemental signal using the third set of tones; and determine a first indication, of a time and/or a range, based on a combination of the first reference signal and the second reference signal using the offset.
