A component mount for a data storage device (DSD). The component mount includes a flexible member or printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) including a pad for electrically connecting to a printed circuit board (PCB) of the DSD. At least one capacitor is mounted on the flexible member or PCBA, and is electrically connected with the pad.

Component placement within a solid state drive

A data storage device (DSD) with improved manufacturing method. The DSD includes a main printed circuit board (PCB) that includes a first PCB connector and a second PCB connector. The DSD also includes a first flash card mounted over the main PCB and including a flash memory and a flash card connector configured to connect to the first PCB connector, and a second flash card mounted over the main PCB and including a flash memory and a flash card connector configured to connect to the second PCB connector. The first flash card and the second flash card are mounted over the main PCB in a plane substantially parallel with the main PCB. The main PCB can be mounted to a base before connecting the first and second flash cards, or the first and second flash cards can be mounted to the main PCB before mounting to the base.

Memory card placement within a solid state drive

A storage device cradle includes a housing having a receiving surface sized and configured to receive at least a portion of a storage device, the receiving surface having a hole defined therethrough. An external interface of the cradle is configured to communicatively couple to a computer, and a storage device connector extends at least partially through the hole in the receiving surface. The storage device connector is communicatively coupled to the external interface, configured to couple to the storage device, and rotatable about a pivot axis defined by at least one shaft mounted within the housing.

Pivot assisted storage device unloading mechanism

A storage device fixture includes first and second storage device bays for receiving first and second storage devices, the first and second storage device bays having first and second entrances, respectively. First and second ejector assemblies are at least partially linearly moveable within the first and second storage device bays, respectively, and first and second rotatable linkages also form part of the storage device fixture, the first rotatable linkage rotatable in a first rotational direction in engagement with the first ejector assembly, and the second rotatable linkage rotatable in a second rotational direction in engagement with the second ejector assembly. Finally, an actuator may move in engagement with at least one of the first and second rotatable linkages, causing the first and second rotatable linkages to rotate substantially simultaneously in the first and second rotational directions, respectively.

Storage device fixture with simultaneous unload mechanism

A method for manufacturing a disk drive includes assembling the head disk assembly in a clean room, performing servo writing upon the head disk assembly in the clean room, and performing a head disk assembly test upon the head disk assembly in the clean room. The head disk assembly is then connected to the controller printed circuit board assembly to form a drive-under-test. The drive-under-test is then transported to an integrated test system and electrically connected thereto. The integrated tests system then performs substantially all of the required manufacturing tests upon the drive-under-test, thereby substantially reducing the labor and floor space associated therewith.
