A seating arrangement in which a modular seat/console that moves between a first space between front seats, an intermediate position, and a second space between rear seats. The seat/console may function as a seat in the second space, or in the intermediate position. In the intermediate position, the seat/console in the seat configuration may advantageously be used to support a child safety seat. The seat/console may also be configured as a console in either the rear seat, intermediate, or front seat positions. The seat/console is provided with an adjustable height support.

Seating arrangement for a vehicle

This invention relates to a method of manufacturing seat back frame, wherein a pair of side back frame portions are first provided. Also provided is a first upper back frame portion having an upper surface defining a first profile is provided, and a second upper back frame portion having an upper surface defining a second profile. The second profile is different from the first profile. A desired profile of a vehicle seat back frame is then determined. After the determination, one of the first and the second upper back frame portions is selected for attachment to the pair of side back frame portions corresponding to the desired vehicle seat back frame profile determined previously. The selected one of the first and the second upper back frame portions is secured to the pair of side back frame portions.

Vehicle seat frame structure and method of manufacturing same

A center seat console that moves between a forward position between front seats, an intermediate position, and a rear position between rear seats is disclosed. The seat/console may function as a seat in the rear seat position, or in the intermediate position. In the intermediate position, the seat/console in the seat configuration may advantageously be used to support a child safety seat. The seat/console may also be configured as a console in either the rear seat, intermediate, or front seat positions. The seat/console is provided with an adjustable height support that permits the seat/console to be lowered to fit beneath arm rests assembled to the front seats when it is desired to place the console between the front seats.

Modular seat/console for a vehicle

A vehicle seat frame includes a first upper back frame member having at least one tab suitable for supporting to a dynamic head restraint system. The first upper back frame member has upper and lower mating surfaces suitable for attachment to upper and lower mating surfaces of a second upper back frame member operable to support a non-dynamic head restraint system.

Vehicle seat frame structure and method of assembling a portion of a vehicle seat frame

A vehicle seat assembly for a motor vehicle. The vehicle seat assembly includes a seat back having a frame, a moveable head restraint arrangement, and a latching member. The moveable head restraint arrangement includes a headrest support disposed proximate the frame and a headrest assembly moveably disposed on the headrest support. The latching member is disposed in the headrest assembly. The head rest assembly moves linearly toward the seat back when the latching member is spaced apart from the headrest support.

Moveable headrest assembly for a vehicle seat

A vehicle seat assembly is attached to a floor attachment bracket by pivoted front and rear leg assemblies is disclosed. A seat base frame, the floor attachment bracket and the front and rear leg assemblies form a four bar link that support the seat assembly on a floor pan of a vehicle. The floor pan defines a stowage well in which the seat assembly may be selectively stored. The four bar link may be rotated to a limited extent when the seat back frame is in its normal seating position to provide a tip and kneel position. In the tip and kneel position the seat is disposed intermediate the seating position and fully stowed position with the seat back upright to provide improved ingress and egress to areas of the vehicle behind the seat assembly.

An automotive slouch rear seat with improved adjustability is provided including an upper seat back and a lower seat bottom. The upper seat back includes a fixed rear seat back, a pivotal seat back, and a sliding seat back. The pivotal seat back has an upper end and a lower end for connecting to the lower seat bottom. The sliding seat back is slidably engaged to the fixed rear seat back. The sliding seat back is rotatably engaged to the upper end of the pivotal seat back. The lower seat bottom includes a fixed rear seat bottom, and a sliding seat lower. The sliding seat lower is slidably engaged to the fixed rear seat bottom. The sliding seat lower is rotatably engaged to the lower end of the pivotal seat back. Also, an automotive slouch rear seat assembly and a method of assembling a pre-installation automotive slouch rear seat assembly are provided.

An adjustable seat cushion thigh support systemfor the use of a seat and method for providing same. The seat has a cushion panthat is fixed in relation to a vehicle. A pair of side railsand a rear cross memberform the fixed cushion pan. The thigh support systemhas fixed anchor bracketsthat extend inwardly from side rails. A vehicle seat including a seat cushion assembly, a seat back assembly, and a seat track assembly for supporting the seat cushion assembly and the seat back assembly in a vehicle. The seat cushion and seat back assemblies being movable to a stadium position such that the seat cushion and seat back assemblies are in a substantially upright position so that an area behind the seat is easily accessible.

Vehicle seat

An automotive seat assembly with improved side impact rigidity is provided including a seat frame. The seat frame includes a frame track, a frame base slidably engaged to the frame track, and a frame back rotatably engaged to the frame base. A rear lateral support assembly includes a support frame attached to a rear portion of the frame base such that the support frame is movable in concert with the frame base. The support frame defines a pocket portion. A tubular member is positioned within the pocket portion. A rocker panel end cap assembly secures a first end of the tubular member within the pocket portion. The rocker panel end cap positioned to engage a rocker panel during side impact. A tunnel console end cap assembly secures a second end of the tubular member within the pocket portion. The tunnel console end cap assembly is positioned to engage a tunnel console such that the tubular member generates a rigid support between the rocker panel and the tunnel console.

Automotive seat assembly with improved side impact rigidity

An assembly for use in an automobile is provided including an automotive seat element including a seatback element having a seatback forward face, a seatback top face, and a seatback rearward face. The seatback rotates between a use position and a folded position and includes a mounting structure. The lower pivot end, of a pivot structure, is rotatably mounted to the mounting structure having a pivot structure storage position and a pivot structure use position. The pivot structure extends vertically upward in the pivot structure use position. The upper pivot end rotates forward to a pivot structure storage position. A headrest inner structure rotates at the upper pivot end, extends on a downward angle, is covered by a headrest outer structure having a head engagement surface. The headrest inner structure rotates away from the seatback so the headrest slides down the seatback face into the pivot structure storage position.

Automotive seat assembly with stowable headrest

A vehicle seat for a vehicle. The seat moveable into a stadium position in which a seat cushion assembly and a seat back assembly are substantially upright. The seat can also include incline and recline features which allow the seat back to fold forward to kneel on the seat cushion and to recline backward to a flat position. The stadium positioning provides, amongst other benefits, easier access to an area behind the seat.

Stadium slide seat

A vehicle seat frame assembly that includes inboard and outboard generally vertical side members that define outer surfaces. The assembly also has a separate first spacer bracket attached to the outboard side member and has a first contact surface spaced apart from the outer surface of the outboard side member. A separate second spacer bracket is attached to the inboard side member and has a first contact surface spaced apart from the outer surface of the inboard side member. A vehicle seat assembly that includes a center console frame member and a vehicle seat. The seat has a seat frame with a pair of vertical side members and a first and second spacer bracket attached to each of the vertical side members. The first spacer bracket is positioned on an inboard side of the seat frame, with the inboard spacer bracket extending towards the center console frame member.

Seat side impact resistance mechanism

A foldable and tumblable seat assembly includes a base having a front end and a rear end. The front end of the base is pivotally connected to a vehicle floor. A seat bottom frame having a front end and a rear end is also provided. The front end of the seat bottom frame is pivotally connected proximate the front end of the base. The seat assembly includes a lower arm having an upper end and a lower end. The lower end of the lower arm is pivotally connected proximate the rear end of the base. The invention also provides an upper arm having an upper end and lower end. The lower end of the upper arm is pivotally connected to the upper end of the lower arm. A seat back is attached to at least the upper arm.

Foldable and tumblable seat system

A vehicle seat is movable between a seating position and a storage position to form a relatively flat horizontal load floor. The seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back. A side member extends upward from the seat bottom. The seat back is rotatably mounted on the side member such that the seat back is rotatable about a horizontally extending axis. The seat back is preferably mounted on the side member so that the seat back can be rotated or flipped around by about 180 degrees so that a seating surface and a back surface of the seat back are rotatable to a reverse position. Preferably, the side member is pivotally attached to the seat bottom and is capable of moving the seat back into a generally horizontal position to define the load floor. An optional panel can be movably attached to the seat back. The panel is movable between a first position adjacent the seat back, and an extended position extending outward from the seat back and covering the seat bottom to further extend and define the load floor.
