There is provided a media player device for use with a text medium having a plurality of pages each having a plurality of words, the media player device comprising an audio output, a memory storing a text medium application software; and a processor configured to execute the text medium application software to receive a first signal emitted from a wireless communication element embedded in the text medium, the first signal including a text medium ID uniquely identifying the text medium, and play an audio, via the audio output and in response to receiving the text medium ID, wherein the audio corresponds to the text medium ID and the audio pronounces the plurality of words in a same sequence appearing in each of the plurality of pages.

One aspect of this disclosure relates to presentation of a first effect on one or more presentation devices during an oral recitation of a first story. The first effect is associated with a first trigger point, first content, and/or first story. The first trigger point being one or more specific syllables from a word and/or phrase in the first story. A first transmission point associated with the first effect can be determined based on a latency of a presentation device and user speaking profile. The first transmission point being one or more specific syllables from a word and/or phrase before the first trigger point in the first story. Control signals for instructions to present the first content at the first trigger point are transmitted to the presentation device when a user recites the first transmission point such that first content is presented at the first trigger point.

System and method of generating effects during live recitations of stories

The systems and methods presented herein are related to providing narrative experiences for users of a virtual space. A machine learning based technique may be implemented for generating paths through the virtual space that present the narrative experiences. A path may be based on tagged points of interest, as illustrated in stored narrative information associated with the virtual space. A machine-learning training loop may be applied wherein the system may be trained to recognize and/or understand what sorts of virtual content within the virtual space may be considered to be of narrative interest to audience members.

A system for providing guided interactions with books includes a content delivery terminal communicatively coupled to a computing platform including a hardware processor and a memory storing a content delivery software code, a content registry, and a library of entries corresponding respectively to multiple interaction plans for guiding an interaction with a book. The hardware processor executes the content delivery software code to detect, via the content delivery terminal, a book corresponding to content included in the content registry, and to identify an interaction plan for the guided interaction based on one or more of the content and a user input received by the content delivery terminal. The content delivery software code further identifies a first portion of the content for use in initiating the interaction plan, and outputs the first portion of the content to the content delivery terminal for printing by the content delivery terminal in the book.

The system including a memory storing a storytelling software application, the storytelling software application configured to generate a story that includes a plurality of segments, each segment of the plurality of segments of the story being associated with one of a plurality of beacons, and a processor configured to execute the storytelling software application to receive a first message transmitted from a first beacon of the plurality of beacons, determine a first beacon identity of the first beacon using the first message, generate a first segment of the plurality of segments of the story based on the first beacon identity, the first segment of the story being associated with the first beacon, and play the first segment of the story.

A system for providing group performance using a set of client devices. The time frame of reference of individual client devices of the set of client devices can be synchronized to the host time frame of reference. The individual client devices may effectuate the presentation of the content of the group performance predetermined points in time with respect to the host time frame of reference. Audio and/or visual content of the content provided by the individual client devices is based on the real-world location of the individual client devices. The content provided can be monitored to check if the content is presented at the predetermined points in time. A system for rendering a virtual environment includes a hardware processor, a memory, and a simulation generator software code stored in the memory. The hardware processor is configured to execute the simulation generator software code to receive a three-dimensional-representation (3D-representation) of a physical object, and to receive a two-dimensional-image (2D-image) of the physical object. The hardware processor is also configured to execute the simulation generator software code to compose a simulation of the virtual environment using the 3D-representation and the 2D-image, in which the 3D-representation of the physical object is situated between the 2D-image of the physical object and a predetermined viewpoint of the virtual environment. The hardware processor further executes the simulation generator software code to render the virtual environment such that the 2D-image of the physical object, but not the 3D-representation of the physical object, is visibly rendered.

There is provided a method for use by a client device having a client address in a network for communication with a host device having a host address in the network. The method includes retrieving a first subset of a plurality of images, displaying the first subset of the plurality of images, receiving a selection of a second subset of the first subset of the plurality of images from a user of the client device, determining a number based on the second subset of the first subset of the plurality of images, replacing a portion of the client address with the number to obtain the host address, and connecting to the host device using the host address obtained by the replacing of the portion of the client address with the number.
