A wafer table for providing electrical components of a wafer includes a rotary disk to receive a wafer. The rotary disk is configured to be displaced parallel to a wafer plane in discrete steps such that the components arrive at a stationary pick-up position. A stationary auxiliary facility is assigned to the pick-up position, and a first rotary drive rotates the rotary disk. A carriage supports the rotary disk and is displaced in a stationary linear guide parallel to the wafer by means of a linear drive. The first rotary drive and the linear drive are positioned such that each of the components arrives at the pick-up position.

The inventive device comprises a positioning device () for a fitting head (). The positioning device is anchored on a support (), which is detachably fastened to a supporting body () of the inventive device. A control device () for the positioning device () is additionally fastened to the support. These functional parts form a completely operative functional unit, which can be separately tested, calibrated and supplied by the supporting body (). Different supports () for different positioning devices () can be fastened to the supporting body (), whereby the inventive device can be optimally adapted to perform different fitting tasks.

The automatic component mounting unit utilizes a number of different mounting members, such as a head, feeding and sensor members, for mounting a variety of different components. The automatic component mounting unit also includes a control device for communicating with a data storage device of each of the mounting members for processing an amount of process data that is specific to each of the mounting members and that is generated prior to installation. As a result, the mounting members are readily configured for optimal use upon installation of the mounting members.

A device for fitting substrates with electric components includes a stationary carrier supporting a positioning device. The carrier is arranged above at least two fitting stations that are located one after the other in a conveying direction. A plurality of circularly distributed grippers are mounted on the rotor such that the grippers can rotate about a mounting axis. Positioning arms for positioning and assembling systems are subjected to high accelerations and must therefore be made lightweight but nevertheless resistant to bending and twisting. The use of composite materials based on metal or ceramic foams and non-expanded materials for positioning arms in positioning and assembling systems allows these positioning arms to be lightweight and nevertheless to have high rigidity. Semifinished products are arranged in the non-expanded material, since a better connection between the semifinished product and material is ensured there than in the metal or ceramic foam.

A linear guide is fastened onto a chassis of a positioner and an elongated bearer for positioning a head is guided at one end on the linear guide and extends transversely thereto. When the bearer is braked, inertial forces arise which cause elastic excursions of the bearer and set it into oscillation. A drive for the bearer is allocated to the end of the bearer opposite the linear guide. The drive is a linear motor containing an iron or core and produces a restoring torque when there is an angular deviation of the secondary part attached to the bearer, which results in reduction of oscillations of the bearer and more rapid achievement of the processing position.
