Method for forwarding in peer-to-peer wireless communications

Various methods and apparatuses for transmitting an allocation of time in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In one aspect, an allocation of time for receiving communications via a receive beam direction is transmitted. The allocation of time may be based on information regarding an apparatus known to be located in the receive beam direction. A unique time for receiving communications from each known apparatus may be allocated, or a duration of time for receiving communications from the known apparatuses may vary based on a number of apparatuses known to located in a receive beam direction.

Methods and apparatuses for transmitting an allocation of time in a wireless system

Systems and methods for communicating packets having a plurality of formats are described herein. In some aspects, a signal (SIG) field in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether an extension field, such as an extension SIG field or SIG-B field, is included in the packet. In another aspect, one or more detectors may be used to auto-detect packets formatted as one of at least two different formats based on a short training field (STF) of a received packet. In some aspects, along training field (LTF) in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether the payload is repetition coded.

An apparatus for wireless communications includes a processing system. The processing system is configured to turn off a first wireless interface configured to support communications within a first coverage area. The processing system is further configured to communicate with a second apparatus using a second wireless interface configured to support communications within a second coverage area greater than the first coverage area. The processing system is further configured to turn on the first wireless interface based on the communication with the second apparatus.

A method includes wirelessly communicating with one or more stations that are partitioned into one or more groups. The method also includes generating a message that identifies one or more time periods during which each station of a first group of the one or more groups is permitted to contend for a communication channel or restricted from contending for the communication channel. Collision reduction mechanisms for wireless communication networks

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communication is provided. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a wireless signal comprising a packet. At least a portion of the wireless signal is configured to be received over a bandwidth lower than or equal to 1.25 MHz. The packet is formed from at least one orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol comprising thirty-two tones. The thirty-two tones correspond to frequency subcarriers within the bandwidth. The thirty-two tones of the at least one OFDM symbol are allocated as: twenty-four data tones, two pilot tones, five guard tones, and one direct current (DC) tone. The apparatus includes a processor configured to evaluate the wireless signal. The processor includes a transform module configured to convert the at least one OFDM symbol into a frequency domain signal using a thirty-two point mode.

Systems and methods for wireless communication in sub gigahertz bands

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating packets having a plurality of types are described herein. In some aspects, the packets include a compressed MAC header. In some aspects the packets include an acknowledgment (ACK) frame. The fields included in a particular packet type may be based on the type of information to be communicated to the receiving device.

A method of facilitating a silence period in a directional communication network is provided. The method may comprise initiating, by a first apparatus, a listening period mode, wherein the listening period mode comprises ceasing at least a portion of current communication and configuring the first apparatus to receive a request to initiate a new communication, determining whether a request is received during a time period in the listening period mode, and transmitting a response if the request to initiate the new communication is received during the time period in the listening period mode.

In response to determining to use aggregated transmission to the first wireless device, the method further includes setting the aggregation field to a first value and setting the length field to a number of symbols. In response to determining not to use the aggregated transmission to the first wireless device, the method further includes setting the aggregation field to a second value and setting the length field to a number of bytes.

In some aspects, portions of packets are repeated in time and/or space when transmitting the packet in order to increase the chance that the packet can be decoded. The repetition of portions of the packet may be based, in part, on the channel characteristics of the channel over which the packet is sent. In some aspects, portions of packets are transmitted over a smaller bandwidth with increased power per frequency range.
