Wireless communications may comprise one or more random access procedures. A random access procedure may be associated with a buffer status report (BSR). The BSR report may be maintained based on one or more conditions associated with the RA procedure, such as awaiting a random access response, an ongoing RA delay trigger timer, and/or transmission of the BSR.

Random access associated with buffer status reporting

Downlink signals, such as synchronization signals and/or reference signals, may be used for facilitating communications between communication devices. The downlink signals may be dynamically reconfigured, for reduced resource consumption, using control channel signaling with reduced resource overhead. Reconfiguration of downlink signals may be based on determined traffic volume in the communication network to minimize any impact of the reconfiguration on network performance.

Dynamic signaling for energy saving in wireless communications

A method may include receiving, by a wireless device, one or more configuration parameters for a timing advance (TA) reporting procedure. The one or more configuration parameters may include a first timing advance threshold for a TA reporting based on an offset between a current timing advance value and a last reported timing advance value. The method may also include triggering the TA reporting procedure based on a condition for the first timing advance threshold being satisfied. The method may additionally include based on the triggering the TA reporting procedure, triggering a scheduling request (SR) and starting a SR prohibit timer. The method may further include, in response to canceling the TA reporting procedure, cancelling the triggered SR and stopping the SR prohibit timer.

Reporting timing advance information in non-terrestrial networks

A wireless device may start a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer based on transmitting an SR for a transport block. The wireless device may receive, while the SR prohibit timer is running, downlink control information (DCI) indicating an uplink resource for the transport block. The wireless device may start a time window, with a duration based on a delay of a non-terrestrial network, in response to: expiration of the SR prohibit timer; the uplink resource occurring, in time, after the expiration of the SR prohibit timer; and the SR being pending. The wireless device may refrain from retransmitting the SR during the time window. The wireless device may stop the time window in response to transmitting, via the uplink resource, the transport block.

Scheduling requests in non-terrestrial networks

In response to initiating a two-step random access (RA) procedure, a wireless device selects a first radio resource for transmission of a first message of the two-step RA procedure. Based on the first radio resource being invalid for the transmission of the first message, the wireless device switches from the two-step RA procedure to a four-step RA procedure and transmits, via a second radio resource, a preamble for the four-step RA procedure.
