A system is provided that learns a radar scene's background and that filters radar tracks determined to be in the radar scene background; The system including processing circuitry configured with executable instructions to accesses radar tracks that include radar measurements; to use the measurements to determine a persistent radar object in a radar scene background; and to subsequently filter accessed radar tracks having locations within the radar scene background.

Spatial sensor system with background scene subtraction

An imaging system is provided comprising: a memory storing instructions which, when executed by processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to perform operations comprising: determining multiple image regions of interest (ROIs) within a camera image plane that correspond to one or more three-dimensional (3D) world object images; determining multiple radar ROIs that correspond to one or more 3D world objects; determining 3D world distances corresponding to the radar ROIs; determining multiple co-registered ROI pairs by co-registering individual image ROIs with individual radar ROIs corresponding to common 3D world objects; adjusting one or more parameters associated with the camera, based upon the co-registered ROI pairs.

Method and apparatus for camera calibration

An optical modulator with a wide aperture, high acceptance angle, low required drive voltages and high operating frequency is provided. The modulator relies on the photoelastic effect and makes use of mechanical resonance in order to improve efficiency. The acoustic excitation and optical propagation path are nominally co-aligned, so the required symmetry breaking is provided by having the modulator material be optically and/or mechanically anisotropic. Such a modulator can be used to enable efficient and low-cost per-pixel optical ranging and speed sensing.

A radar data acquisition circuit comprising: a radar receiver to receive radar data representing a radar scene in response to a sequence of extended sampling waveform frames that includes multiple sampling waveform subframes; and a first processor; configured with stored program instructions to generate one or more replacement sampling waveform subframes to include in an extended sampling waveform frame of the sequence based at least in part upon one or more radar parameters of radar data received using the sequence of extended sampling waveform frames.

A sensor system comprising multiple sensor units non-collocated at a site; processing circuitry operatively coupled to memory is configured to perform operations comprising: producing sensor unit tracks, each sensor unit track comprising one or more object attributes including relative object location attributes and non-location attributes; for each sensor unit track, translating the one or more relative object location attributes of the sensor unit track, to one or more universal object location attributes; fusing sets of sensor unit tracks, based at least in part upon corresponding object attributes of the sets of sensor unit tracks, to produce unified site tracks that include the corresponding object attributes; and saving the unified site tracks in a non-transitory storage device.

Centralized tracking system with distributed fixed sensors

A radar sensor system is provided that includes: multiple sensor units that each includes a radar receiver and a location sensor; and a processor that is configured to use location sensor-based information to determine differences between respective sensor unit nominal locations and respective sensor unit actual locations and to use the determined differences to fuse the radar data received at the radar receivers to produce a wide radar aperture.

Methods and apparatus to realize scalable antenna arrays with large aperture

A hybrid RF-acoustic relay is provided where some but not all of the incident RF power is rectified to power the relay and, optionally, to provide power for further link features. The remaining fraction of the incident RF power is used to directly drive an acoustic transceiver array in communication with one or more acoustically powered nodes. In this manner, power, control and communication can be efficiently provided to acoustically powered nodes even in situations where an RF link or an acoustic link would perform poorly.

RF-ultrasound relay for efficient power and data transfer across interfaces

A microfluidics device includes an inlet, a plurality of parallelized microfluidic channels, a splitter and a plurality of detection electrodes. The inlet receives a fluidic sample including biological particles. The parallelized microfluidic channels include interaction zones for analysis of the biological particles. The splitter transmits the fluidic sample into the parallelized microfluidic channels. Detection electrodes can conduct the analysis. Each detection electrode is shared among the parallelized microfluidic channels. The detection electrodes are spatially encoded electrodes arranged on locations of each of the parallelized microfluidic channels.

Massive microfluidics for multiplexed counting

A partially coordinated radar system is provided comprising: a radar transmitter; a radar receiver; processing circuitry; a first spatial information indicator; a side channel communication system to send radar waveform configuration information from the transmitter to the receiver; processing circuitry to use the waveform information to configure the radar receiver to receive the waveform signal; determine radar-based spatial information based upon the radar waveform signal; determine a mismatch of clocks or local oscillators of transmitter and receiver; and generating a compensation signal indicating correction information to compensate for the determined at least one mismatch.

Partially coordinated radar system

Direct signal distribution at mm-wave frequencies is provided by using dielectric waveguides for passive coherent distribution. The relevant distribution path lengths at mm-wave frequencies are short enough that accumulated phase error is not a significant problem. Meanwhile, the dielectric waveguides provide low loss and substantial immunity to electrical interference, thereby avoiding the main disadvantages of direct signal distribution in RF systems.

Scalable mm-wave arrays with large aperture realized by mm-wave dielectric waveguides

A thermoacoustic imaging device is provided having a transmitter configured to provide an electromagnetic transmit signal (e.g. a continuous sinusoidal signal) to an object being imaged. The transmit signal is a modulated continuous-wave signal based on a carrier frequency signal fmodulated at a modulation frequency at or near f. The detector is further configured to receive an acoustic signal from the object being imaged, and is responsive to acoustic frequencies at or near 2f. A non-linear thermoacoustic effect in the object being imaged generates the acoustic signal from the object being imaged. Spectroscopic maps could be generated and imaged object could be analyzed. The device enhances signal-to-noise ratio of the reconstructed image and reduces the requirement of peak power in thermoacoustic imaging systems. In addition, the generated pressure of the imaged object is separated from microwave leakage and feedthrough in frequency through the nonlinear thermoacoustic effect.

Systems and methods for labeling radar tracks for machine learning are disclosed. According to some aspects, a machine accesses data from radar unit(s), the data from the radar unit(s) comprising radar tracks, each radar track comprising one or more of the following: Doppler and micro-Doppler measurement(s), range measurement(s), and angle measurement(s). The machine accesses data from computer vision device(s), the data from the computer vision device(s) comprising image(s), the data from the computer vision device(s) being associated with a common geographic region and a common time period with the data from the radar unit(s). The machine labels, using an image recognition module, objects in the image(s). The machine determines, based on the common geographic region and the common time period, that labeled object(s) in the image(s) map to radar track(s). The machine labels the radar track(s) based on labels of the labeled objects.
