The present disclosure describes methods and systems for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir. One method for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir includes: positioning, a laser head at a first subterranean location, wherein the laser head is attached to a tubular inside of a wellbore; directing, by the laser head, a laser beam towards a leak on the wellbore; and sealing the leak using the laser beam.

Downhole well integrity reconstruction in the hydrocarbon industry

Systems and methods include techniques for using smart polymers. Units of smart polymers with hydrogen sulfide (H2S) sensitivity are inserted by a monitoring system into drilling fluid pumped into a well. The smart polymers are configured to be triggered by increasing H2S concentrations. An insertion timestamp associated with each unit is stored. Each insertion timestamp indicates a time that each unit was inserted. Continuous images and observed characteristics of returning mud exiting through an annulus of the well and containing the units of smart polymer are captured by a camera positioned at a sensing location and linked to the monitoring system. An estimate of H2S levels at a drill bit of the drilling operation is determined using continuous images, observed characteristics, and insertion timestamps, and based at least in part on executing image processing algorithms, machine-learning models, and deep-learning models. Changes to drilling parameters are suggested.

Measuring drilling fluid hydrogen sulfide with smart polymers

A rig site may include a rotary table within a rig floor above a wellbore. A fabric sheet rolled into two symmetrical rolls is disposed on the rig floor. A pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is coaxial with the rotary table. A casing string, to be lowered in the wellbore, includes a first casing joint at a bottom of the casing string is a modified float joint. The pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is attached to a sleeve of the modified float joint. Union units are provided above the rotary table. The union units close the fabric sheet around the casing string to form a fabric-nested casing string within the wellbore. A cement slurry is pumped down the casing string and into a space between the fabric sheet and the casing string to cement the fabric-nested casing string to the wellbore.

Measuring drilling fluid pH with smart polymers

A method for a well includes obtaining a dynamic input parameter combination for the well, determining measurements for a rotating control device using a sensor, and predicting a rotating control device wear estimate using rotating control device estimation methods, the measurements, and the dynamic input parameter combination. The method for a well further includes maximizing an instantaneous rate of penetration, while reducing rotating control device failure, to determine an optimized average rate of penetration using the rotating control device wear estimate. Finally, the optimized average rate of penetration is executed for a well.

Online data-driven optimizer of rotating control device used in closed loop drilling

Systems and methods include a computer-implemented method for determining well pressure. Units of pressure-responsive smart polymers are inserted into drilling fluid pumped into a well during a drilling operation. An insertion timestamp associated with each unit is stored indicating times that each unit was inserted. Continuous images and observed characteristics of drilling mud exiting through an annulus of the well and containing the units of smart polymers are captured by a camera. An estimate of a bottom hole pressure (BHP) at a drill bit of the drilling operation is determined using the continuous images, the observed characteristics, and the insertion timestamps associated with each unit of smart polymer. Determining the estimate is based at least in part on executing image processing algorithms, machine-learning models, and deep-learning models. Changes to be made to drilling parameters for the drilling operation are suggested based on the estimated BHP.

Measuring bottom-hole pressure with smart polymers

Sealing composition for plugging and abandoning a wellbore and methods of plugging and abandoning a wellbore are disclosed. Embodiments of a method for plugging and abandoning a wellbore may include introducing a sealing composition into a wellbore and curing the sealing composition to form a plug. The sealing composition may include from 1 weight percent to 20 weight percent of a curing agent, based on the total weight of the composition, and from 20 weight percent to 97 weight percent of an epoxy resin system, based on the total weight of the composition. The epoxy resin system may include an epoxy resin having the formula (OCH)&#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;(CHO), where Ris a linear or branched hydrocarbyl having from 4 to 24 carbon atoms; and a reactive diluent having the formula R&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;(CHO), where R is a hydrocarbyl having from 12 to 14 carbon atoms.

Sealing compositions and methods of plugging and abandoning of a wellbore

A downhole drilling tool and methods for using the tool include a body with a wall that defines an internal volume, and at least one arm attached to the wall, the at least one arm comprising a channel within a body of each arm. A placement zone for a filler, a filler amount, and filler parameters for the integrity problem is determined. The filler in the filler amount is injected in the placement zone. The filler is solidified at the placement zone.
