An apparatus is configured to train or refine, with a network node, at least one beam for beamformed communications associated with the UE. The UE includes an antenna array with an associated non-radiating reflector of energy. The apparatus is configured to communicate, with the network node, using the antenna array and the at least one beam. Another apparatus is configured to train or refine, with a UE, at least one beam for beamformed communications associated with the UE based on a capability indication that indicates the UE includes an antenna array with an associated non-radiating reflector of energy. The apparatus is configured to communicate with the antenna array of the UE based on the at least one beam.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may receive control signaling indicating a channel state information reference signal-resource indicator (CRI) for beam reporting, and receive a set of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs) in accordance with the CRI. The first wireless device may transmit a beam report indicating a first and second beamforming configurations associated with the CRI, where the first beamforming configuration is associated with an antenna module at the first wireless device, and where the second beamforming configuration is associated with the antenna module and one or more passive devices configured to reflect signal energy to or from the antenna module. The first wireless device may then communicate one or more messages with the second wireless device in accordance with the first beamforming configuration, the second beamforming configuration, or both.

Techniques for beamforming reporting using active intelligent reflective surface emulations within a user equipment

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE). The UE transmits capability information corresponding to one or more antenna modules of the UE to a network entity. The capability information may include a quantity of boresight directions associated with each antenna module of the one or more antenna modules. The UE may receive from the network entity, after the capability information is transmitted, an indication of a beam switch and/or an antenna module switch. The beam switch indicates a switch from an active beam to a target beam. The antenna module switch indicates a switch from an active antenna module to a target antenna module.

Switching across antenna modules with independent boresight directions

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a rank information change signal associated with rules for switching between a two-layer (2L) mode and a four-layer (4L) mode via an antenna panel displacement operation. The UE may transmit a transition time parameter associated with an amount of time for transitioning between the 2L mode and the 4L mode. Numerous other aspects are described.

A user equipment (UE) may be configured to report feedback to a base station to address polarization impairments in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. The UE and the base station may establish a communications link using a pair of orthogonally polarized beams, where the pair of polarized beams may be selected based on a beam sweep procedure. The UE may transmit a report to the base station indicating one or more polarization parameters associated with beam pairs identified in the beam sweep procedure, such as one or more orthogonality parameters, one or more polarization parameters relating to one or more beam pairs, or one or more angular spread parameters. Based on the report, the base station may transmit a beam configuration to the UE for polarization MIMO communications.

Techniques for feedback metrics associated with dual-polarized beamforming transmissions

Aspects relate to mechanisms for generating an enhanced beamforming codebook to cover an out-of-coverage region of an antenna module of a wireless communication device (e.g., a UE). The UE may include an initial beamforming codebook configuring a plurality of beam weights intended to cover an in-coverage region corresponding to a boresight direction and a neighborhood thereof of the antenna module. The UE may further configure one or more additional sets of beam weights intended to cover the out-of-coverage region beyond the boresight direction and the neighborhood thereof and then add the one or more additional sets of beam weights to the initial beamforming codebook to produce the enhanced beamforming codebook.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE). The UE transmits beamforming capability information indicating one or more adaptive beam weights. The UE receives, after outputting the beamforming capability information, an indication of beamforming adjustment phase information. The beamforming adjustment phase information is based on circuit-level information of the UE associated with at least one of an adaptive beam weight synthesis period or an adaptive beam weight usage period. The UE adjusts the one or more adaptive beam weights based on the indication.

Methods for incorporating mismatches between radio frequency (RF) conditions over measurement epochs and RF conditions over the usage of adaptive beam weight beamforming

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications systems are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity, a set of beam-swept synchronization signals associated with a testing procedure for the UE. The UE may select a first beam pair associated with a first antenna module of the UE from a set of multiple beam pairs associated with the received synchronization signals. The UE may receive a first module lock command and a first beam lock command, and may utilize the commands in performing a first set of measurements of the first beam pair at the first antenna module. The UE may receive a first beam lock deactivation command to release the first beam lock command of the first beam pair, and a first module lock deactivation command to release the first module lock command of the first antenna module.

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for controlling foldable user equipment (UE) functionality according to an indication to change a separation angle between a first portion of the foldable UE and a second portion of the foldable UE. Some examples involve providing a prompt to change the separation angle. In some examples, the indication may be associated with transmission of signals, reception of signals, a downlink data rate, an uplink data rate, or a combination thereof. According to some examples, providing the prompt may involve providing a visual prompt, providing an audio prompt, providing a sensory output, or a combination thereof.

Foldable user equipment (UE) configured to provide user prompts

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE). The UE may transmit signaling indicating antenna module capability information including geometric shape information associated with one or more antenna modules of the UE. The UE may perform beamforming, in accordance with the received indication.

Method of allocation of reference signals for beamforming with non-planar antenna modules

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating antenna module information, beamforming capabilities, power control information, etc., for computing devices capable of operating in multiple form factor configurations. A example technique includes detecting that the UE is operating in a first form factor configuration of a plurality of form factor configurations the UE is adapted to operate in. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes transmitting a capability message to a network entity including an identification of a constrained RF architecture of the UE, communicating an indication of a communication performance loss attributable to use of a non-preferred set of transmission states, and performing a communication with the network entity at the mmWave frequencies according to a transmission state selected by the network entity. A first wireless device may transmit signaling to an assistive node, and the assistive node may retransmit the signaling to a second wireless device. The assistive node may be configured with a mapping between receive beams and transmit beams at the assistive node. The mapping may enable the assistive node to receive signaling using a receive beam with a first beamwidth and retransmit the signaling using a transmit beam with a second, different beamwidth.

An antenna module is described. The antenna module include a ground plane in a multilayer substrate. The antenna module also includes a mold on the multilayer substrate. The antenna module further includes a conductive wall separating a first portion of the mold from a second portion of the mold. The conductive wall is electrically coupled to the ground plane. A conformal shield may be placed on a surface of the second portion of the mold. The conformal shield is electrically coupled to the ground plane.

A device includes at least a first and a second antenna array module.
