A method for operating a wireless communication network that supports a plurality of reference signals such as sounding reference signals as provided. The method comprises analyzing a channel condition between a UE and TRPs, providing a measurement report to the wireless communication network and determining parameters of an uplink RS based on the measurement report. The method further comprises receiving, with the user equipment, at least one instruction signal comprising information indicating the determined parameters of the uplink RS, and transmitting the uplink RS within the UE so as to allow determining uplink transmission links for a UE multi-TRP communication or a position of the UE in the wireless communication network based on an evaluation of transmittal of the instructed uplink RS.

Uplink UE positioning

An apparatus for a wireless communication system is provided. The apparatus is to transmit a reference signal on a common set of resource elements (REs), the common set of resource elements being used by one or more further apparatuses in the wireless communication system, so that the reference signal of the apparatus and one or more further reference signals of the one or more further apparatuses use the same resource elements. Moreover, the apparatus is to transmit the reference signal depending on a base sequence or a sequence derived from the base sequence and depending on a set of configuration parameters.

Apparatus and method for a wireless communication system employing cyclic shift hopping

An apparatus for determining a position of a user device, UE, in a wireless communication system, the wireless communication system comprising one or more of moving transmission reception points, TRPs, wherein the apparatus is configured to: initiate one or more procedures to perform one or more measurements between the UE and the moving TRP, and to obtain one or more measurement results; and receive at least one message from the moving TRP comprising a position information of the moving TRP; wherein the apparatus is capable to estimate the position of the UE using the measurement result and the position of the moving TRP.

Apparatus for determining user position

A position of a first entity of a wireless communication network is determined on the basis of one or more measurements between the first entity and a second entity. For one of the measurements, a reference signal is transmitted between the first and the second entities. The first and the second entities use respective antenna patterns for transmitting or receiving the reference signal. The position of the first entity is determined using antenna pattern information about the antenna pattern used by the first entity and/or antenna pattern information about the antenna pattern used by the second entity.

Determining a position of an entity of a wireless communication network

The disclosure describes a method for a network entity (NE) to optimize positioning of a user equipment (UE) based on static circumstances and situational/environmental circumstances. The static circumstances may be sensor capabilities and sensor quality related to the UE, radio access network (RAN) capabilities, or general system limitations. The NE may request a quality report from a measurement unit (MU) that indicates the positioning technologies used for such quality reporting. The NE may inform the MU which sensors and technologies to use for monitoring and request a report from these sensors and technologies. The NE may receive results from measurements performed by the MU, and the NE may receive a message including the MU quality report in order to enable the NE to decide on the best positioning method for the UE in the current situation for the indicated sensors and technologies to perform the position calculation.

Method and system for optimizing the position of a user equipment

The embodiments herein relate to method performed by a radio network node or a LMF, a method performed by a UE and a UE for downlink and uplink beam management for positioning measurements. The method comprising at least: configuring the target UE; receiving at least one report from the UE; exchanging the report(s) with neighboring network nodes and/or a location measurement function; providing instructions the UE; receiving at least one measurement report from the UE; and estimating the location of the UE using received information.

Beam management methods and apparatuses for positioning measurements in a communications network

An apparatus for a wireless communication system is to transmit a reference signal on a common set of resource elements, REs, the common set of REs used by one or more further apparatuses in the wireless communication system to transmit the reference signal so that the reference signals of the apparatus and of the one or more further apparatuses use the same REs. The reference signal is transmit using OFDM symbols and the same sequence having a zero auto correlation property is applied to each OFDM symbol. A phase correction is applied to an OFDM symbol before transmission, wherein a correction factor of the phase correction depends on a comb factor and a comb offset of the OFDM symbol and is independent of the resource element.

Ambiguity/aliasing cancellation or reduction for staggered reference signals

A transceiver for a wireless communication system is configured to: communicate with at least one other transceiver of the system using a sidelink resource pool of the system; transmit signals on resources of the pool that are allocated to the transceiver on a period basis with equal length periods t; transmit a first signal on a first resource of the resources allocated to the transceiver, and receive a second signal from another transceiver of the system on a second resource, the second signal being transmitted by the other transceiver responsive to a reception of the first signal, the second signal being transmitted by the other transceiver on the second resource using the period tbased on which the resources are allocated to the transceiver; determine a distance to the other transceiver based on a time tbetween the transmission of the first signal and the reception of the second signal from the other transceiver, and based on the period tbased on which the resources are allocated to the transceiver.

Sidelink ranging and multilateration

The present disclosure relates methods and apparatuses (UE, scheduler, network node) for resource allocation in a network. According to embodiments herein there are provided a new resource allocation scheme for an UL-TDOA resource allocation scheme and the related UL-PRS signals. The procedure is also applicable for RTT uplink resource allocation. The main technical effects and advantages achieved by the embodiments herein include: A resource allocation concept offering a high flexibility. The positioning update rate is configurable for each UE allowing that for semi static objects a low update rate is selected whereas for moving devices a high update rate is feasible. The signalisation overhead is minimized. The UEs may be configured semi-persistent. Using different transmit periods for each UE results in random SINR (Signal to Interference Noise Ratio) values and ensures that UEs with high pathloss are also detected. The sequences used for positioning are optimized according to the ToA measurement requirements (unlike the existing SRS).

Methods and apparatuses for resource allocation in a telecommunications network

The embodiments herein relate to a method for an RTT measurement procedure in a communication network, the method comprising: () setting a positioning mode; () identifying a number of neighboring radio base station, n-gNBs, based on at least one report from a at least one User Equipment, or from UE information based on at least one measurement performed by a serving radio base station, s-gNB, serving said UE; and () initiating configuration by: —acquiring capabilities of said at least one UE and capabilities from at said radio base stations, gNBs, —reporting by said at least one UE beam measurements for the n-gNBs from said at least one report; and setting resources for the s-gNB and the n-gNBs. Methods and apparatuses for RTT measurement procedure in a telecommunications network

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for improving positioning of a device in a wireless communications network. In some embodiments, a method performed by a measuring device configured to communicate with a positioning device, comprises: determining a cross-correlation between a received signal and a transmitted reference signal; determining a channel impulse response (CIR) of the cross-correlation related to a first lobe detected above a selected threshold in said CIR; and reporting information on a truncated part of the CIR around the first lobe to the positioning device for enabling the positioning device to correct or estimate a measurement related to a distance between a transmitter and the measuring device and/or a distance between at least one reflecting cluster and the measuring device.

Methods and apparatuses for positioning in a wireless communications network

An apparatus for estimating a physical state of a movable object includes a processor receiving or determining a probability mass function including probabilities for each of a first group of at least two movement classes, wherein the movement models of the first group being determined using sensor data from the inertial measurement unit. The processor receives at least one additional probability mass function associated with a second group of at least two movement classes, wherein the additional probability mass function has been obtained using additional information different from the sensor data. The processor combines the probability mass function and the at least one additional probability mass function to obtain a combined probability mass function over the movement classes of the first group and the second group, selects a movement class having the highest probability from the combined probability mass function, and estimates the physical state of the movable object using a movement model of the selected movement class. Each movement class is either a movement state or a movement model.

Apparatus and method for estimating a physical state of a movable object

The embodiments herein relate to method performed by a measurement device, the method comprising: receiving via higher layer signalling, information on resources or resource sets of one or more radio transmission devices transmitting one or more beam signals associated with said resources or resource sets; performing channel measurements of the one or more beam signals, per spatial filter or receiver beam of the measurement device; storing, over at least one time frame, the channel measurements into measurement groups, where each measurement group corresponds to the channel measurements performed using the same spatial filter of the measurement device; and reporting the measurement groups to a network node or correlating the measurements of each measurement group with reference data for each available time frame individually and reporting the result of the correlation to the network node.
