A method for inhibiting corrosion of a metal article in contact with a solution including an acid includes adding to the solution a corrosion inhibitor in an amount of 1 to 500 parts per million (ppm) based on the total number of parts by mass of the solution, thereby adsorbing the corrosion inhibitor onto the surface of the metal article via at least one interaction to form a barrier layer in the form of a composite. The at least one interaction comprises a physisorption, a chemisorption, and a retro donation. The corrosion inhibitor has a formula (I) where n is any integer from 8 to 21 inclusive and R, R, R, R, and Rs are each independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted cycloalkyl, and an optionally substituted alkoxy.

Method for inhibiting corrosion of metal article

A method is described for inhibiting marine fouling on a surface. The surface is contacted with a composition comprising a waterborne polyurethane that is crosslinked with an acrylic acid functionalized polysaccharide, water, and a preservative. The composition is then dried to form a deposited film. The polysaccharide may be xanthan.

Method of using water erodible marine antifouling coating

Jute stick/stalk can be used to prepared and carboxylated to yield useful activated carbons, e.g., for removing Pbfrom drinking water. Such activated carbons can act as an inexpensive adsorbents using agricultural waste or by-products. Carboxylation of jute stick activated carbon (JSAC) can improve its efficiency for Pbremoval, e.g., from aqueous solutions, even if its BET surface area is reduced. Carboxylated JSAC (JSAC-COO) can have surface areas around 615.3&#xb1;0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 m/g. JSAC-COOcan treat varied Pbconcentrations, 10, 25 mg/L, etc., pHs, e.g., 4.0, 7.0, etc., temperatures, e.g., 15&#xb0; C., 27&#xb0; C., etc., and contact periods, e.g., 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 minutes, etc., achieving up to 99.8% Pbremoval within 15 minutes of contact JSAC-COOadsorption capacity can be &#x3e;25.0 mg Pb/g, as well as other metal ions, with potential for water and/or gas treatment.
