A transportable well completion tool is described. The transportable well completion tool comprises a housing with a charge module disposed within the housing. The charge module comprises explosive charges. An initiator module comprising a detonator is coupled to the housing, and a bulkhead member is disposed within the housing between the initiator module and the charge module. A containment cover is secured to the housing to cover the detonator. The transportable well completion tool can be transported with the containment cover in place, and the containment cover can be removed to connect the well completion tool to a tool string for downhole deployment.

Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide a perforation tool and method for operating the perforation tool. The perforation tool may include one or more firing heads and one or more gun assemblies. The perforation tool may also include a release mechanism coupled to the one or more firing head and the one or more gun assemblies. The release mechanism may release the one or more gun assemblies to a bottom of a wellbore upon firing of the one or more gun assemblies and maintain the one or more firing heads on the perforation tool.

A technique facilitates efficient punching and cutting of a tubing with a single trip downhole. A cutter and a puncher are combined and conveyed together downhole into a borehole, e.g. a wellbore. The cutter and puncher may be conveyed downhole via a suitable well string. A communications line may be routed to both the cutter and the puncher to enable selective actuation of the cutter and the puncher. For example, the puncher may initially be actuated by detonating a shaped charge to perforate through the tubing in the borehole. Subsequently, the cutter may be operated to sever the tubing. In some applications, the cutter may be replaced with another tool operatively coupled with the communications line.

A technique facilitates on-demand release of desired sections of a well string, e.g. sections of a perforating gun string, via at least one on-demand release tool. The on-demand release tool has an activation mechanism which may be selectively actuated to transition the on-demand release tool from a first loadbearing configuration to a second loadbearing configuration. The on-demand release tool may then be transitioned to a release stage which allows a first section of the on-demand release tool to be separated from a second section of the on-demand release tool by activating a release mechanism. In at least some applications, the on-demand release tool also comprises a ballistic transfer device to enable reliable ballistic transfer between sections of the perforating gun string.
