A terminal holder is provided for connecting a cable to a connector or another cable. The terminal holder includes a base plate configured to be held proximate an end of the cable. The base plate includes an edge. Terminal sleeves extend from the edge of the base plate for holding cable terminals of the cable and connector terminals of the connector or of the other cable. The terminal sleeves have internal passages extending from a cable end to a connector end. The internal passage is configured to receive a corresponding cable terminal therein through the cable end. The internal passage is configured to receive a corresponding connector terminal therein through the connector end such that the corresponding cable terminal and the corresponding connector terminal are engaged in electrical contact with each other within the internal passage.

Terminal holder

An electrical connector includes a shell having a mating end and a termination end. The shell has a securing feature configured to secure the shell to a mating connector. The shell has a cavity that extends between the mating end and the termination end. A terminal subassembly includes a dielectric insert that is configured to be held within the cavity of the shell. The dielectric insert is configured to hold terminals such that mating interfaces of the terminals are configured to mate with corresponding terminals of the mating connector and such that termination interfaces of the terminals are configured to be terminated to a cable. The dielectric insert is a modular insert that is configured to hold the terminals when the termination interfaces are flat interfaces and is also configured to hold the terminals when the termination interfaces are crimp interfaces.

Electrical connector

The present electrical connector assembly includes an outer shell capable of receiving at least one electrical contact module. The outer shell works in cooperation with an improved contact module retaining device which secures the electrical contact module within the shell. The combination of the outer shell with the contact module retaining device protects the critical elements of the retaining device from exterior environments, does not interfere with insertion of the module into the shell, and provides for a precise alignment of the module during and after insertion of the module into the shell. In particular, the outer shell is comprised of two half shells which are open during attachment of a contact module retaining device to each of the half shells. The two half shells are joined to form a connector housing after attachment of the module retaining device. The preferred module retaining device is a clip which is attached so that the main body of the clip is in contact with an interior surface of the half shell. The clip is precisely aligned within the half shell using snap fit contacts which hold the clip in position until the half shells are joined, after which the clips may be held in position by contact with the interior surface of the half shell alone.

Electrical connector with split shells and retention clip

An inexpensive coaxial cable connector, and an inexpensive contact which is suitable for use in an such an inexpensive coaxial cable connector, the connector and the contact being capable of passing electrical signals from low frequency power up to and including telecommunications signals in the range of 1 GHz or more. The connector comprises an elongate, hollow, conductive, cylindrical barrel having an inner radius, R.sub.BARREL, and a first longitudinal axis; and an elongate, conductive contact. The contact has a first end and a second end which define a length therebetween, a second longitudinal axis, and comprises a cylindrical section. The cylindrical section has an outer radius, R.sub.CONTACT, which is less than R.sub.BARREL. The cylindrical section comprises a first external end which is coincident with one of the first end and the second end of the contact, a hollow interior, a first longitudinal slot, the slot located near the external end of the cylindrical section, and has a proximal end and a distal end. The contact also comprises a first spring-tab which is located within the first longitudinal slot and formed from a cut-out which forms the first longitudinal slot. The spring-tab has a fixed end and a free end, the fixed end joined at the proximal end of the slot. The first spring-tab extends generally from the proximal end of the slot toward the distal end of the slot and into the hollow interior of the cylindrical section. The connector comprises means for supporting the contact in the barrel so that the cylindrical section of the contact is contained within and spaced apart from the barrel and the second longitudinal axis is substantially coincident with the first longitudinal axis. The supporting means comprises a dielectric material.

Coaxial cable connector

A device for forming an electrical connection between a number of electrical wires comprises an electrically insulating sleeve and a hollow connecting element, for example in the form of a coil, which is formed from solder for forming a solder joint between the wires. The connecting element has a tapering internal surface that is provided with a screw thread, for example by means of the coil windings, arranges so that a temporary electrical connection may be formed between the conductors by twisting them into the connecting element. The device can be higher and, when installed have reduced size compared with connectors that are provided with infusible connecting elements.
