A polymeric composition includes (i) a copolymer of ethylene and an alpha olefin comonomer, the copolymer having a density of 0.945 g/cc to 0.960 g/cc, (ii) an ethylene-based polymer, and (iii) polyethylene glycol. The combination of (i) and (ii) has a High Mw Comonomer Content of 3.2 wt % or greater based on a total weight of the combined (i) and (ii) over the weight average molecular weight range of 10g/mol to 10g/mol as measured by GPC, wherein 15 wt % or greater of the total weight of the polymeric composition is the combined (i) and (ii) having a molecular weight in the range of 10g/mol to 10g/mol as measured by GPC, wherein the polymeric composition has a Relevant Comonomer Content of 0.6 wt % or greater and wherein the polymeric composition has a density of 0.945 g/cc or greater as measured according to ASTM D792.

Enhanced aging and reduced shrinkback polymeric composition

A method includes steps of (a) blending a polymeric composition, including: (i) 5 wt % to 45 wt % of a silanol-functionalized polyolefin based on a total weight of the polymeric composition; (ii) 55 wt % to 90 wt % of a polybutylene terephthalate based on a total weight of the polymeric composition having a melt flow index from 21 g/10 min. to 35 g/10 min. at 250° C. and 2.16 kg; (iii) a condensation catalyst; and (iv) 0.5 wt % to 10 wt % of hydroxy terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) based on a total weight of the polymeric composition; and (b) extruding the polymeric composition.

Compatibilized polymeric compositions for optical fiber cable components

The present disclosure provides a crosslinked polymeric composition. The crosslinked polymeric composition contains (A) a silane functionalized ethylene-based polymer and (B) inorganic hollow microspheres having (i) a Dparticle size from 10 μm to 100 μm, (ii) a crush strength from 17 MPa to 140 MPa, and (iii) a density from 0.10 g/cc to 0.40 g/cc. The crosslinked polymeric composition has a tensile strength from 11 MPa to 40 MPa and a tensile elongation from 12% to 100%.

Crosslinked polymeric composition and coated conductor

The present disclosure provides a pellet. In an embodiment, the pellet includes a body having a first end and an opposing second end. The body is composed of a polymeric material. The body has a length and a diameter (body diameter). A channel having a diameter (channel diameter), extends through the body from the first end to the second end. The pellet has a channel diameter-to-body diameter ratio from 0.05 to 0.45. The present disclosure also provides a process for soaking the pellet in a liquid additive and forming a loaded pellet with the additive in the pellet body.

Polymeric compounds for cable coatings and processes for producing same

The present disclosure provides a composition. The composition includes (A) an ethylene-based polymer and (B) from 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a metal hydroxide component, based on the total weight of the composition. The metal hydroxide component includes a metal hydroxide having an aspect ratio greater than, or equal to, 10. The composition has a thermal conductivity greater than 0.52 W m−K−and a density less than, or equal to 1.02 g/cc. The present disclosure also provides a coated conductor including a non-metal conductor and a coating on the conductor, the coating containing the composition.

Coated conductor

A method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and carbon solids without melting the polyolefin solids during the making. The method comprises applying acoustic energy at a frequency of from 20 to 100 hertz to a heterogeneous mixture comprising the polyolefin solids and the carbon solids for a period of time sufficient to substantially intermix the polyolefin solids and the carbon solids together while maintaining temperature of the heterogeneous mixture below the melting temperature of the polyolefin solids, thereby making the homogeneous mixture without melting the polyolefin solids.

Method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and carbon solids

The present disclosure provides a coated conductor. The coated conductor includes a conductor and an outermost coating on the conductor. The coating includes (A) an ethylene-based polymer having an I21/I2 ratio from 20 to 50; and (B) a propylene/ethylene copolymer having a Mw/Mn from 2.0 to 3.5. The coating has a surface roughness from 20 μ-inch to 100 μ-inch.

The present disclosure provides a composition. In an embodiment, the composition includes a pest repellent, a barrier polymer, and an ethylene-based polymer. The barrier polymer has a melt temperature, Tm, from 175° C. to less than 270° C. The barrier polymer is selected from the group consisting of one or more polyamides, one or more polyesters, and combinations thereof. Also disclosed is an irrigation tube having an annular wall. The annular wall is composed of the present composition.

Non-foam polyolefin compositions for wire and cable coating

Polymeric compositions comprising a polybutylene terephthalate; a low-density polyolefin selected from a low-density polyethylene, a polyolefin elastomer, or combinations thereof; and a maleated ethylene-based polymer. The optical fiber cable components can be selected from buffer tubes, core tubes, and slotted core tubes, among others.

A filling composition comprises (A) a mineral oil having a kinematic viscosity from 80 cSt to 100 cSt at 40&#xb0; C.; (B) a styrene-ethylene/propylene diblock copolymer; and (C1) a propylene/ethylene copolymer having a weight average molecular weight (M) from 5,000 to 200,000 or (C2) an ethylene/propylene copolymer having a weight average molecular weight (M) from 5,000 to 200,000. The filling composition is used as a filling composition in a buffer tube.
