A computing device comprises a primary printed circuit board (PCB), one or more computing components mounted to the primary PCB, a baseboard management controller (BMC) mounted to the primary PCB, a power subsystem, and a logic device coupled to the primary PCB. The power subsystem comprises a power controller with a first logic pin, and the logic device is communicably connected to the first logic pin. The logic device is configured to program the power controller by placing the power controller in a programming mode and inputting programming information into the power controller via the first logic pin.

Examples described herein relate to a system controller for tracking a characteristic system energy of a computing system. The system controller may retrieve the characteristic system energy of the computing system from a voltage regulator (VR). The VR may include a VR controller, one or more phase converters, and an output capacitor coupled to a load to provide an operating voltage to the load. The characteristic system energy is related to a sum of capacitances comprising a capacitance of the output capacitor and a capacitance of the load and is determined by the VR controller based on a voltage at the output capacitor and a charging current or a discharging current of the output capacitor via the one or more phase converters. Further, the system controller may determine whether to initiate a corrective action for the VR based on a comparison between the characteristic system energy and a threshold value.

An electronic fuse (e-fuse) for controlling input current of a load includes a transistor switch and a transorb device that is coupled in parallel to the transistor switch between a source and a drain of the transistor switch. A circuit comprising the transistor switch and the transorb device in parallel comprises a first end and a second end. The first end of the circuit is coupled to a power bus. The second end of the circuit is coupled to a first node of the load. The e-fuse includes an RC circuit comprising a resistor coupled in series with a first capacitor. The RC circuit is coupled between the power bus at the first end of the circuit and a return. The return is coupled to a second node of the load. The e-fuse includes a second capacitor that is coupled between the return and the second end of the circuit.

Example implementations relate to a variable soft start device. For example, in an implementation, the variable soft start device may set the capacitance of a variable capacitance circuit connected to a soft start pin of the electronic fuse. The variable soft start device may read a power-good signal from the electronic fuse and determine the capacitance to set according to the power-good signal.

In some examples, a controller may include a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine readable instructions executable to cause the processing resource to set an electrical power threshold, monitor an amount of electrical power distributed between a plurality of phases of a multi-phase converter operation. The controller may detect a load disparity between a particular phase of the plurality of phases, disable the particular phase, and redistribute the electrical power amongst the remaining phases of the multi-phase converter operation.

Example implementations relate to performance tests of capacitors. In some examples, a controller may comprise a processing resource to measure a change in voltage of a capacitor of a circuit in response to the controller entering a test mode, determine, based on the measured change in the voltage and an impedance of the circuit, a capacitance of the capacitor, compare the determined capacitance of the capacitor to a predetermined capacitance value, and determine, based on the comparison, a performance of the capacitor.

Example implementations relate to plug-in backup energy devices. In some examples, a plug-in backup energy device may comprise a charger, an energy storage device coupled to the charger, and a buck-boost converter coupled to the charger and the energy storage device such that the buck-boost converter maintains a charge of the energy storage device during a no-fault mode of a computing device, and in response to the plug-in backup energy device switching from a normal mode to a power supply mode as a result of the computing device experiencing a fault, regulates a voltage output of the energy storage device to provide energy to the computing device during the fault of the computing device.

Various examples provide systems and methods in which a capacitor is charged by an active first power factor correction module and a voltage across the capacitor is determined while the second power factor correction module is exclusively active. A health state of the second power factor correction module may be determined based on the determined voltage across the capacitor.

Examples herein relate to a multiphase voltage regulator, comprising a pulse-width modulation PWM controller to output a plurality of PWM signals for driving a plurality of pluggable stand-alone voltage regulator converter stage, wherein each pluggable stand-alone voltage regulator converter stage receives one of the PWM signals and delivers a regulated output voltage signal, wherein a contribution of the regulated output voltage signals is delivered to a load connected onto a printed circuit assembly PCA.

An example system includes a failure detection circuit. The failure detection circuit is to detect a failure of a first power source electrically coupled to a first load. The failure detection circuit is to output a first signal indicating the detection of the failure of the first power source. The system also includes a current regulating circuit. The current regulating circuit is electrically coupled to the failure detection circuit. The current regulating circuit is to electrically couple a second power source to the first load based on the first signal output by the failure detection circuit. The current regulating circuit is to restrict a first current from the second power source.

An example system includes a control interface and a device coupled to the control interface. The control interface may generate a parameter. The device may receive the parameter from the control interface, generate a switching waveform and current reference, adjust the switching waveform to generate an output current, and adjust the output current by using an error amplifier to provide an output current that conforms to at least one parameter.

Examples disclosed herein relate to multi-node system fault management. In some of the examples disclosed herein, a fault detection circuit may distinguish between normal operating conditions of a multi-node system and faults that occur between the overcurrent protection of the system's power supplies and the hot plug protection of the system's nodes. The fault detection circuit may detect these faults by monitoring a voltage at the node's backplane connector prior to the input of the node's hot plug protection interface. If the magnitude of the monitored voltage drops below a threshold voltage at a rate that exceeds a threshold rate, the fault detection circuit may determine that a fault has occurred and may communicate the fault to the power supplies. The power supplies may receive the fault communication and shut off their power outputs to prevent the fault from causing damage to the components in the system.

A power factor correcting (PFC) boost converter is to convert an input to an intermediate DC signal. A direct current (DC)-DC converter is to receive the intermediate DC signal and generate an output associated with an online condition. In response to a light-load indication, the PFC boost converter is to assume a disabled status to pass a rectified input to the DC-DC converter. The DC-DC converter is to convert the rectified input to generate the output associated with a light-load condition. The light-load condition output is provided at a voltage lower than the online condition output.

Examples disclose a power system comprising a first power supply to provide a first power to a load. Further, the power system comprises a second power supply to detect a droop in the first power to the load, the droop associated with a decrease in efficiency of the first power supply. Additionally, the second power supply is to balance the load based on the droop detection by providing a second power in addition to the first power to the load to increase the efficiency of the power system.

The memory socket is able to couple to a circuit board that includes memory circuitry. The power rail provides a high-voltage power signal to power circuitry on the circuit board. The control signal includes a pulse width modulation signal. An output voltage of the power circuitry on the circuit board may be controlled by the control signal.
