A vehicle system includes DC/DC converters configured to receive electrical currents from high voltage battery modules and output regulating electrical currents to a low voltage battery. The vehicle system includes a control system coupled to the DC/DC converters, the high voltage battery modules, and the low voltage battery, where the control system is configured to control the DC/DC converters to recirculate one or more of the electrical currents back to one or more of the high voltage battery modules in order to balance states of charge in the high voltage battery modules.

Optimal control strategy for a distributed low voltage system with bidirectional direct current converters

Examples described herein provide a method that includes providing electric power at a first voltage level for a first auxiliary low voltage bus. The method further includes providing electric power at a second voltage level for a second auxiliary low voltage bus, the first voltage level differing from the second voltage level. The method further includes adjusting the second voltage level using a direct current (DC)/DC bypass converter. The DC/DC bypass converter converts electric power from the first auxiliary low voltage bus and delivers an adjusted electric power to the second auxiliary low voltage bus to regulate power drawn in the first auxiliary low voltage bus and the second auxiliary low voltage bus.

Architectures for multiple auxiliary low voltage buses of vehicles

An energy transfer system includes a conversion device configured for partial power processing and configured to regulate current from a first battery system, and a controller configured to control the conversion device to adjust a first voltage of the first battery system to conform the first voltage to a second voltage of a second battery system, the second battery system connected in parallel with the first battery system by a bus. The conversion device is configured to receive power from the first battery system, cause a selected portion of the power to flow through a conversion stage to adjust the first voltage, the selected portion corresponding to a difference between the first voltage and the second voltage, cause a remaining portion of the power to flow directly to the bus and bypass the conversion stage, and output a current from the conversion device at the second voltage.

A vehicle, slew rate control circuit and method of operating an electric motor of a vehicle. The slew rate control circuit is between a gate driver of the vehicle and an inverter of the vehicle. The slew rate control circuit includes a first branch between the gate driver and the inverter, wherein the inverter provides an electrical signal output to an electric motor of the vehicle, and a second branch between the gate driver and the inverter in parallel with the first branch, wherein current flows through the first branch during a first time period and through the second branch during a second time period, wherein the flow of the current controls a slew rate of the electrical signal output by the inverter to the electric motor.

A battery system for an electric vehicle includes at least one battery cell configured to store charge for powering an electric vehicle, a high voltage bus electrically coupled with the at least one battery, a DC-DC converter electrically coupled with the battery cell, a low voltage bus electrically connected between the DC-DC converter and at least one vehicle electrical component, and a cell monitor electrically coupled with the at least one battery cell and the DC-DC converter, wherein the cell monitor includes a current sensor configured to detect a current from the at least one battery cell to the DC-DC converter. The cell monitor includes a controller configured to estimate a state of charge of the at least one battery cell according to the current detected by the current sensor, and adjust switching operation of the DC-DC converter according to the current detected by the current sensor.

Examples described herein provide a method that includes providing a first electric power pathway from a battery to a first auxiliary low voltage bus via a direct-current (DC)/DC converter and a first switch. The method further includes providing a second electric power pathway from the battery to a second auxiliary low voltage bus via the DC/DC converter and a second switch. Examples provide a method that includes providing electric power at a first voltage level for a first auxiliary low voltage bus. The method further includes providing electric power at a second voltage level for a second auxiliary low voltage bus, the first voltage level differing from the second voltage level. The method further includes sensing, by a controller, a first power consumption at the first auxiliary low voltage bus. The method further includes sensing, by the controller, a second power consumption at the second auxiliary low voltage bus. The method further includes calculating, by the controller, a difference between the first power consumption and the second power consumption. The method further includes managing a load in one of the first auxiliary low voltage bus or the second auxiliary low voltage bus based at least in part on the difference between the first power consumption and the second power consumption.

A battery system for a vehicle includes multiple battery cells each configured to store charge for powering an electric vehicle, a high voltage bus electrically coupled with the multiple battery cells to provide power to an electric motor, and multiple cell monitoring modules each coupled with a corresponding one of the multiple battery cells, each cell monitoring module including a controller configured to monitor operation parameters of the corresponding one of the multiple battery cells. The system includes multiple DC-DC converters in a converter housing, each DC-DC converter electrically coupled with a corresponding one of the multiple battery cells outside of the converter housing, and a low voltage bus electrically connected between the multiple DC-DC converters in the converter housing and at least one vehicle electrical component outside of the converter housing. The low voltage bus is configured to provide low voltage power to at least one vehicle electrical component.
