The present invention provides a storage system having a storage device having at least one polymeric sheet sealed along a portion of its' periphery to provide an opening to a storage space; a resealable closure structure adapted to seal the opening to the storage space, the resealable closure structure comprising selectively engaging male and female profiles and a sealing compound comprising liquid silicone and at least one filler in proportions suitable for at least incidental contact to food items contained within the storage space; a vacuum valve assembly disposed on the polymeric sheet; a stand-off structure disposed adjacent to the vacuum valve assembly, wherein the stand-off structure has a series of raised surfaces facing the vacuum valve assembly; a portable vacuum pump assembly structured to engage the vacuum valve assembly; and a liquid separator assembly coupled to the portable vacuum pump assembly.

Storage system having a disposable vacuum bag

A reclosable zipper closure and slider device for use with packages to open and close a pair of mating closure profiles. The closure profiles of the zipper closure include a male closure profile having a first interlocking member that is received by at least one second interlocking member formed on a female closure profile. The male closure profile further includes a sealing protrusion that is received within a mating sealing recess to provide a liquid tight seal between the two closure profiles. The slider device includes a plow member that extends past the first interlocking member when the slider device is installed on the zipper closure. Each of the closure profiles includes a spring member that contacts the top, inner surface of the slider device to provide a resilient, flexible structure to aid in installation of the slider device on the zipper closure.

A method of making packages having a reclosable zipper construction openable and closeable by a slider device. In one embodiment, the method includes utilizing photo eyes to monitor the registration of the film web in respect to the slider device and the placement of side seams. In another embodiment, the method includes utilizing multiple sealing steps to provide seal regions and side seams.

Methods of manufacturing reclosable packages having a slider device

A reclosable zipper including a first closure profile, a second closure profile constructed and arranged to selectively mate with the first closure profile, and a web arrangement joining the first closure profile and the second closure profile. The web arrangement includes a plurality of tear regions radially spaced across the web arrangement. Each of the tear regions has a lower shear strength than the remaining portions of the web arrangement. The tear regions may include multiple layers and have geometric shapes, such as a T, a trapezoid, a triangle, a round, and a rectangle. In some embodiments, there is a second web arrangement joining the first and second closure profiles. This reclosable zipper can be used on a flexible package to create a tamper-evident flexible package. Methods of operation are described.

Tamper-evident slider packages with multiple tear points

A slider device for use with a resealable package includes a top wall with first and second ends, a spreader depending from the top wall, a first sidewall, a second sidewall, a first hook construction extending from the first sidewall, a second hook construction extending from the second sidewall, and a guide construction. The first and second hook constructions have sloped or tapered surfaces that facilitate mounting of the slider device on a reclosable closure construction, such as a zipper arrangement. Methods of assembling and operation are described.

Slider device, packages, and methods

A closure arrangement for use with a flexible package includes a first closure mechanism, a slider device, and a second closure mechanism. The first closure mechanism includes selectively engageable first and second profiles. The slider device has a housing operably mounted on the first closure mechanism. The slider housing is constructed and arranged to engage and disengage the first and second profiles. The slider housing defines a first cavity that slidably receives said first and second profiles. The second closure mechanism includes selectively engageable third and fourth profiles. The second closure mechanism is adjacent to the first closure mechanism but is completely outside of the first cavity. The second closure mechanism may be either a single pair of interlocking hooks, or may be multiple members. The slider device includes a plow with a non-rectangular cross-section, such as a polygon, a racetrack, or a circle. The plow may also include shoulders to help retain the slider device on the first closure mechanism.

A slider device includes a top wall, first and second sidewalls, and a separating structure. The first sidewall depends from the top wall and includes a first hooking construction. The second sidewall also depends from the top wall and includes a second hooking construction. The top wall and first and second sidewalls define a first cavity that operably receives a closure mechanism having first and second selectively engageable closure profiles. The separating structure selectively separates the first and second profiles of the closure mechanism. The separating structure includes a stabilizer and a separator. The stabilizer extends from the second sidewall and the second hooking construction into the first cavity. The stabilizer retains a lower portion of the second closure profile proximate to a lower portion of the first closure profile. The separator depends from the top wall and extends from the first sidewall into the first cavity. The separator applies pressure to an upper portion of the second closure profile to push the upper portion of the second closure profile away from an upper portion of the first closure profile, causing the first and second closure profiles to separate.
