Provided are compositions and methods that are useful for personal care compositions. The compositions comprise (a) a cationic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from (i) 30 to 80 weight % of cationic monomers, (ii) 10 to 65 weight % of (meth)acrylamide monomers, and (iii) 0 to 30 weight % of polar non-ionic derivatives of acrylic monomers, and (b) at least one cosmetically acceptable surfactant, rheology modifier, or cosmetic active. Also provided are methods of treating hair with such compositions.

Hair care compositions containing cationic polymers

Provided are compositions and methods that are useful for personal care compositions. The compositions comprise (a) a cationic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from (i) 30 to 80 weight % of cationic monomers, (ii) 10 to 65 weight % of (meth)acrylamide monomers, and (iii) 0 to 30 weight % of polar non-ionic derivatives of acrylic monomers, and (b) silicone. Also provided are methods of treating hair with such compositions.

Personal care compositions containing cationic polymers

The present invention relates to the use of polyalkoxylated alcohols of the formula R&#x2014;O-(AO)&#x2014;H, wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group having 7 to 25 carbon atoms, (AO) is a polyoxyalkylene moiety of the composition (BO)m(EO)n(DO)r with random or blockwise arrangement of the constituting oxyalkylene units, wherein m, n and r represent the average number of oxybutylene (BO) units, oxyethylene (EO) units and oxyalkylene units derived from at least one epoxide selected from styrene oxide and alkylene oxides having from 5 to 10 carbon atoms (DO) per molecule of the polyalkoxylated alcohol, respectively, m being a number greater than or equal to 1, n being a number greater than or equal to 1 and r being a number in the range from 0 to 50 under the proviso that (m+n+r) is less than or equal to 200 and the ratio n/(m+r) is in the range of 1 to 20, as excipients in pharmaceutical compositions. Said polyalkoxylated alcohols enable very effective solubilization of poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients in aqueous media. Solid or semi-solid pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more such polyalkoxylated alcohol combined with at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient are further long term stable under typical storage conditions and can be readily provided in various dosage forms such as tablets and filled capsules.

Polyalkoxylated alcohols as excipients for pharmaceutical compositions

A mixture of first and second redispersible polymer powders where the first redispersible polymer powder has a copolymer having a glass transition temperature of 60 degrees Celsius or higher and an acid level in a range of 0.1 to 8 weight-percent percent as determined by potentiometric titration according to ASTM D664 and the second redispersible polymer powder is selected from vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer redispersible polymer powders and polymer powders of a blend of vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer and vinyl ester of versatic acid copolymer is useful as a component in a dry-mix formulation that further contains Portland cement, alumina rich cement and calcium sulfate.

Redispersible polymer powder mixtures for use in dry-mix formulations

A water redispersible polymer powder may be produced by drying an aqueous mixture of a water insoluble film-forming polymer and a colloidal stabilizer comprising a chelating agent to obtain a water redispersible polymer powder, where the amount of chelating agent is at least 0.1% by weight, preferably at least 1% by weight, most preferably at least 3% by weight, based upon the weight of the water insoluble film-forming polymer. Dispersions or polymer compositions containing a chelating agent as a colloidal stabilizer exhibit an unexpectedly low viscosity which facilitates spray drying and permits use of high solids content dispersions with low pressure spray drying to increase production efficiency. The chelating agents are stable at high pH and so high pH spray dryable compositions containing them as a colloidal stabilizer may sit or be stored for prolonged periods of time prior to spray drying without loss of effectiveness of the colloidal stabilizer.

Stabilized redispersible polymer powder compositions

Elastic fibers are described that comprise (i) a polyolefin polymer, e.g., a homogeneously branched, preferably substantially linear, ethylene polymer, and (ii) a photoinitiator, e.g., an aromatic ketone, in an amount sufficient to effect at least a partial cross-linking of the polymer when the fiber is exposed to sufficient UV-radiation to activate the photoinitiator. Articles, e.g., fabrics, comprising fibers of this invention, either alone or in combination with one or more other fibers, e.g., cellulose, nylon, etc., exhibit good heat resistance and elasticity at elevated temperatures.
